I literally can not do anything in the nether other than stay in my cobblestone base because everyone I step out the door there are about 10 ghasts. I mean seriously! I can't get glowstone, or mushrooms, and it is extremely hard to build anything.
I really don't want to switch to peaceful like my last world but I can't do anything. Can somebody give me some tips or something because it's really frustrating me at this point.
Shoot them with a bow, or shoot their fireballs back at them. Just hit them with an arrow in mid-air. Alternatively, you can bat away the fireball with your sword, but you run more of a risk.

either do what lonewolf15 said or just switch to peaceful even tho u dont want to switch to peaceful its really the best thing in the neather if ur having that much trouble
I barely see 1 in my nether in 1 of my worlds, in another I've only seen 2-3. and sometimes none. Though I do see A LOT of pigmen.
Where do you hide? I've literally watched 4 spawn right in front of me as I was fighting another! I think I need to set up m mob trap first because I need a supplie of arrows.
Hmmm I see 3-4 ghast everytime i go to my nether but for some reason the nether is pretty flat + its like a sandwich inthere theres a giant hang over on the top and a high thing on the bottom so basicly the ghast just come in and they just let me hit them in the face with my sword.
You could build a cobblestone tunnel (above ground or below) or just shoot them with arrows. A mob grinder will get you tons of arrows. Killing ghasts gives you gun powder too, just saying.
