No news, if there was, it would be on 4j's twitter, the twitter feed that is posted at the top of these forums, and probably the front page of these forums if there was anything big.
4J is still working on the update, and it may or may not go into certification testing in the next week or two, maybe.
4J does care about their customers, they are trying to make the game come out as smooth as possible. If 4J was "screwing around", which they aren't, we probably wouldn't ever see an update for the xbox again.
Having read just this week that the 1.4 update for PC may come out earlier than Halloween, maybe they are going to try to release them at the same time.
But MS cert testing can take anything from 5 days to a few weeks apparently.
Just be patient At least we know it will be a good update that hasn't been rushed.

I think it won't take a few weeks once it is in cert testing. I expect the update around the 2nd, if not early 3rd week of Oct.
4J has probably fixed a good amount of the bugs to speed up the testing.

It takes a long time to translate the code for 1.8, and the people at 4J ARE people too. They need to eat, sleep, have fun, and some of them may have families they have to take care of too. Also, what else is 4J mainly working on at the moment? ....... Yup, nothing. If they wanted to screw around, most of their employees would have no work to do.

Even if they just said "Screw it, release it as-is", it'd still take 5-10 working days for Microsoft to certify it... and it'd be half-finished, bug-ridden, crappy code to boot, and people would STILL be bitching. Probably even more so.
And as far as these companies who "made a buttload of money off of us"... um... how much are they charging for Halo 4? FIFA 2013? Modern Warfare 3? Yeah... $60 a pop for the vanilla version, plus more for DLC's. Minecraft is $20... are you seriously implying that that is a ripoff? I'm pretty sure no one put a gun to your head and forced you to buy Minecraft, or any of the other games that you've paid three times as much for. Plus, I can easily see myself still playing MCXBL for years... can you say the same about other titles? When was the last time you played Halo 2, or Oblivion, or the original Call of Duty, or ANY game more than a year old?

this guy is completely right, it's only $20 and you're complaining about it,but when you buy a horrible $60 game you still play it. (All of the CoD games.) With the CoD games it's all the same lines of code with different models lol.

Really? There are patches for a reason and by now its prolly about perfect to be handed to Microsoft. Also for whoever said I felt like I got ripped off.. those are your words not mine. I'm saying they made millions of dollars off this gamein the first month. So they could atleast get a sh*t ton more people in there to help speed up the process a bit huh. Just saying that with the funds they made they could do better. If they would have taken some of the money they earned and doubled their staff we would have an update once a month instead of people (like me) raging because they r slow

exactly i am computer science in high school and tried to convert a java file to a c++ file and it is one of the most annoying things ever. and when you wait for dlc for another game it takes them like 4 months so be happy it only takes this long

I heard that CERT testing takes only from around 5 - 10 days, and this is from an official Xbox website.
