OK so maybe im just stupid but whats the purpose of wool besides building a bed and lighting them on fire? And the dyes, is there really anypoint to it besides decoration.
Also, can you find coco beans in just the wild, or does it have to be a chest.
And why is it that i have never found a pumpkin? Is there some special requirment to find them or have i just over looked them?
If you can pull it off, wool can make a nice building material. For example, 4JSteve built a pretty sweet-looking house in the official Xbox Creative Mode trailer out of white and cyan wool.
Wool can be used as carpet. Use different colors and make a design on your floor! I wrote my gamer tag on my bedroom floor in wool. Ballin'
Cocoa beans are only found in the chests by the mob spawners, as far as I know.
Pumpkins are there! You may have just not come across any yet. It took me awhile to see one for my first time which I'm sure is just by chance but yeah, they are there! I actually came across a patch of them in the wild yesterday. There were about 15 of them all close together. Pretty neat.
Wool can be a great building material. If you go on YouTube and search "Keralis modern house", you'll see tons of great examples of how he utilizes wool in building projects on his channel. You might even get some inspiration for some projects if your own.
Cocoa Beans in the current edition of the game can only be found in Chests in Dungeons, they will either make brown wool or cookies.
Pumpkins are randomly generated, and can vary in the amount found on each world, myself personally have found worlds with very very few to recently i was lucky enough to find a world with 54 (if thats them all). - another point is that it is not a guarentee that you will have pumpkins spawn on your world, its a small chance, but by the sounds of it you may have been unlucky.
Wool is used as decoration, I couldn't imagine playing without it, everything would look so bland.

My current main world has only 3 pumpkins. I found them almost immediately; but now I have explored every scrap of land and not found another single one. In other worlds I've started, I've tripped over them with almost every step.
People also use wool in construction particularly when they want a specific color that cannot be found in the other building blocks. It also has a relatively plain texture that doesn't detract from the design. It is a solid block that is not affected by gravity and can be walked on just like any other solid block, so it makes a great building material from that perspective. It is not very blast resistant; but many of the regular construction blocks (e.g. sandstone) are not very blast resistant either. It will burn; and the game cautions that lightning can set wool on fire; but many people who have built large structures with wool have not had a big problem with that.
ETA: Wool is a renewable resource and, therefore, unlimited resource, but it is time consuming to collect enough of it for large projects.
can you not get pumpkin seeds from pumpkins and plant more? Because if not that would be a really awesome update!!
Pumpkin and melon seeds are being introduced in the 1.8.2 update, so we will have them soon. I've also been told that there will be a way to craft seeds from pumpkins themselves... so there may be a hope that I can grow more from my 3 pumpkins in my old world after the update without going into Creative mode.
Thats awesome...baby steps...just take baby steps and eventually it will be as good as the computer version. Hopefully
"as good as" is a relative term. In some respects, the XBox version is already better than the PC one. For example, on a PC you can't sit and have multiple players in the same household play together on splitscreen mode without having to even be online. In my household, this is far more useful than a couple more mobs and the ability to breed animals.
