Well guys, I came up with this a few days ago. I'm not sure if it's already something someone has done or if 4J would even consider the idea. However, I thought I'd share my idea for you guys.
I was thinking during a thunderstorm, what if minecraft had different weather. Maybe weather that is more severe. Weather that is biome specific, Stuff that makes sense. Then it hit me, a realistic weather DLC.
Lands near ocean biomes/Ocean biomes: Hurricanes. Nuff said, really dark and heavy rain, large wind gusts that can send the player and animals flying. Maybe even tear off part of your home and send it elsewhere. Maybe just lower line blocks, like wool, wood ect.
Snow Biomes: Blizzards, other than just normal snow blizzards will snow significantly more heavy and making it harder to see. It will also instead of producing snow on a block it will produce a snow block or maybe a snw block the size of a half slab. Making sure it makes it more wintery looking.
Forest biomes/Mountain biomes: Landslides maybe? Parts of the world that after being rained on a lot just fall down. As if they were like gravel or sand. Chunks of land, causing what could look like a landslide.
Jungle Biomes(When added): Heavy and Dark rain, rains more frequent.
Swamp biomes: Adding a fog, similar to what happens in 1.8 when you're deep underground.
Desert Biomes: Sandstorms. Sand will fly at the player kind of like rain, except it will be dark brown and will have a fog effect until the storm blows over.
Plains biomes: Tornados, not much to be said about these, they are already a mod.
I don't know about you guys, but this would be something i'd like to invest in. It'd add a whole new perspective on how minecraft is. This is of course aimed at an after 1.2.3 release, but I think it's something 4J should look into. Hope you guys like the idea, hope someone didn't already come up with it. lol..
It would be hard to implement the blowing blocks idea
but you could use the effect that tnt has on sand only on other blocks like wood
Overall your idea's are good but with a few tweaks and they'll be ready for minecraft
but there should be option to turn it off, it could be called Extreme Weather
I would absolutely love if they implemented all types of weather like this. It would be realistic, interesting, and a lot more fun overall in my opinion.
I actually have the tornado mod for the PC version and that alone is awesome. If they added the things from the tornado mod and all the other weather effects you mentioned, we have one hell of a game!
Not diggin' the idea of my houses being torn to shreds. But Blizzards would be cool. (See what I did there.) Maybe snow slabs that looked like they were half a block, but were only 1/8th of a block in the collision, and slowed you down like soul sand. Y'know, to make it feel like you're trudging through deep snow. What about sandstorms? Render distance goes down like in a blizzard, and everything gets coated in a thin layer of sand. just like when it snows.

Maybe have it just be blocks not placed by the user that shreds off?
I'm not sure I like the environment changing so much as often I get it just the way I like.
Maybe if things like sand disappear eventually.
I'm happy with thick snow though it could even act like soulsand for a slowing sinking effect.
They could even add snowshoes.
A crafting recipe could be leather boots above string surrounded by sticks.
Tsunamis maybe? Only comes from ocean biomes and will send a water current (not source blocks) up to 100 blocks of flat ground inland.
I like the ideas it's just that weather shouldn't grieve my world... More.
There's already people that do that.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
That would be sweet, and keep things spiced up! You got your city/town built, all is well, your out harvesting your crops when all of a sudden the skies turn grey...The wind picks up, it starts to rain and thunder.. you look up and BAM! Big EF5 Tornado has just demolished a few of your buildings (and threw the dropped blocks everywhere). Hey now, we have to live with that crap here in the midwest, our virtual Minecraft worlds shouldn’t get a free pass.
As if it didn't rain enough being every other day...>< Well for me it has been every other day. I actually would like them to reduce how much it rains.. without having to go into a desert biome, which actually borders most my work and hopefully soon to be part of it...lol
I do like the ideas though. Just would be nice if it were more random. I am getting tired of creating a new world where it rains two days in a row right from the first day... that is annoying... I guess not much luck for me. But yeah spacey randomness would be best, not timed where it happens every x amount of time. Anyway lovely ideas all you have there...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
A few friends and I were talking about this right after the 1.7.3 update. It would be awesome to have this implemented! Especially the tornado. But it should be an option just like Mobs. Don't want to ruin your big build. Or do you?
Unfortuntely, the ant in question remains free, and is quite successful at hiding in plain sight, camoflauged amongst his brethren perfectly.
Serious note: Flash floods! Two-block-high surge of water, would sweep away torches and crops that aren't sufficiently protected on low land.
Yes. Plus...Nether Weather! Lava storms that take down your health by 1/2 every 30 ticks you're down there, in the open. It'd promote building in the nether.

This is a good Idea but it shouldn't be a DLC, but instead a free Xbox 360 Exclusive (I mean, come on. PC People just have to pay 30$ and they get everything for free like Skins, Mods, and texture packs. It wouldn't hurt if this was free.) With the new Host Commands coming soon, this would fit perfectly. As some people said above me this should also be a option to turn this off. But I like the Idea. Nice.
