Same, the one that got patched always worked everytime, while this one can really annoy you.
If 4J "wanted" people to exploit a duplication bug, why did they patch the first one?
Seems like they found that the latest dupe bug is stable (i.e. doesn't corrupt saves, etc.) as far as the code goes, and figured, "meh... let's just leave it to keep the 'Veruca Salts' out there from pitching a hissy-fit until we get Creative implemented".
I think what they actually wanted was to avoid an avalanche of whining.
how does one duplicate in game and why would you want to ruin the game by duplicating items its all about exploration and construction is it not?
You can't ruin this game. How you play is up to you! I dupe when I want to make a ridiculous structure, because I only have so much time to play, and when I get the chance to play, I don't always want to spend the whole time mining/making blocks. Sometimes I just want to make something cool. My big tower of gold and iron and lapis and glass is awesome. It's no different from creative mode, except that it's kind of a pain in the butt and not as good as creative. Some stuff I want to make won't be practical until creative because of that.
People in Halo abuse that glitch when you look like your holding a gun in campaign and Bungie is fine with it since it is put twice in a game. I wouldn't say "ever".
I wouldn't call that a glitch anymore. The first one may have been a glitch, but the on in Reach was put in there on purpose for people making Machinima. If it was put it on purpose, it's not a glitch.
After the first duping glitch fix, it subsequently created more glitches, or people just found more ways that already existed. I'm assuming all of the different duping methods have to be fixed individually, so they might not have been done fixing them all by the time they released the last bug fix patch.
I'm not so sure about that. It seems they only fix the glitches that players point out. When they patched the first dupe glitch, there were a handful of people that already knew about the new dupe glitch. Within a couple hours of the update someone had already uploaded a YouTube tutorial on the post-patch dupe glitch. I guess it's possible they could be/could've been actively looking for new methods of the glitch, but it just doesn't seem likely to me. Even if they did, you would think everything would be under control by the time that the bug fix after 1.7.3 was released.

Don't forget all the super jump glitches in Halo 2. Or the RT, RT, Y "Killed by the Guardians" glitch with the BR.

It still is a glitch if it wasn't intended to be in the game in the first place.
Sweet, this brings the dupe argument to a close! It was a way to work around not having creative mode! Who would have thought it!?! I mean after 2 updates and not patching the glitch, I was starting to think the programmers at 4J gave up on us. But all along, they meant it to be there!
That is so cool that they knew some people just want to build stuff!!!
No game developer wants you to abuse a glitch. Ever. It's one of the things game devs pride themselves on, making a glitch free game.
No, not really. Plenty of developers have let glitches slide or promote them to legitimacy, as have many modders. There are good, and bad glitches. They don't want a file-corrupting or crashing game glitches, but many will allow harmless glitches such as straferunning/jumping, bunnyhopping, etc. Duplicating seems to be more the latter.
It still is a glitch if it wasn't intended to be in the game in the first place.
Not so - programmers have every right to "like" a glitch enough that the put it into the game. They will make sure it's stable before doing that. After that, it's no longer a glitch. Creepers came about from a glitch. Are they still a glitch? Doubt it.
I didn't say anything about 4J wanting people to exploit the glitch.
No... but the OP and plenty of others did. I was merely quoting you in the context of pointing out that 4J has, in fact, corrected duplication glitches in the past. Therefore, the argument (not necessarily yours) that 4J intended for people to dupe from the get-go is obviously erroneous.
A more recently discovered dupe method turned out to be not (or at least less) harmful to the game, so they decided to let it slide until Creative was ready for implementation. My speculation is that they did so to avoid a ****-storm of squeaker complaints about how they broke the game by fixing it.
Explain to me why they patched the first duplication glitch. They left the new duplication glitch because they probably didn't know about it. Just because they are patching it for the next update doesn't mean they wanted us to dupe.

No Statement needed.

Command codes? Where do you suppose they type those? No. They have the dev Xbox, they can spawn in anything they want.
