I've killed slimes with swords, and I noticed it doesn't qualify on the leaderboards. Glitch? I'm not sure, but if you "overkill" them on the PC you get slimeballs.

Because it was changed so that if you overkilled them they would still split
Not all swords, they do different amounts of damage, you can freely kill a slime with a wooden sword and have it split, and as I mentioned on the previous page and big slime will take 1 hit with a diamond sword then you can switch to your hands and finish it off.
Now try punching your jello.
That was some good jello you just killed.
