Someone named "Murraybevy" recently updated the upcoming feature page for the Xbox 360 version. According to him, he says that the release date of 1.8.2 is going to be possibly this Friday on the 28th. It might not be true, but it does sound reasonable. If the update isn't coming out that day, it will for sure come out early October.
"Here is a progress update on what has been going on with the Xbox version of Minecraft. As soon as we have a release date for this update I will let you know :)"
Of the two, I think this is a more reliable source. If I was 4J, one of the first people I would tell about a release date would be the folks at Mojang.
Are people really this desperate for 1.8?! Jeez. 4JSteve already said in another thread that they would **** when It goes into Microsoft's certification process. For everyone thinking it's going to be the 28th, I say keep dreaming.
That was a long time ago. Who knows when the update will come out. Maybe if people still whine, 4J will go crazy and will stop working on 1.8, then everyone will learn there lesson.

I'm no programmur but I know, like it doesn't take that long cus I've copied term papers from the net and that didn't take long. To people saying it isn't in cert yet because they have not told us.. do you ever think they are making it a suprise? just a guess :S
When a company indicates that it will notify the public of something, the LAST thing they want to do would be to reneg on that promise. Surprise or not, it's just simply very bad PR for the company. Since 4J tweeted that they would let us know when this update went for Cert testing, they will, I'm 99% sure, let us know outright and officially... not by burying it in the number of unused items in a video. Same now with Mojang. They have as a company committed to letting us know when they know a release date. So, they will let us know when they know. Right now, they don't know... and Mojang would probably be among the first to be notified by 4J when they know the date. All the numerology and other speculation is just that... rampant speculation.
as much as i am enjoying borderlands 2, i DESPERATELY WANT THIS UPDATE TO COME OUT. when it does i'll probably abandon borderlands even tho i'm sure i wont be done with all 3 playthroughs.

That tweet was sent a week ago. Microsoft Cert takes 4-10 days. So the 28th can be a possibility.
