OH my, I think I am going to need to work on creating something simular to that third one down. I absolutly love it and think it would make a grand church. Ant with the stone stuff coming out I should be able to easily keep it interesting.
Those are actually all churches. My people have been building churches for thousands of years, because we were the first to make Christianity our official religion (before Rome and such.) We've gotten pretty good at it, lol.
But a key concept to Armenian architecture are towers at the center of stuff, tall vaulted ceilings, and stone construction (in real life, the highlands are a very earthquake prone area, so the architects use stone to reinforce buildings. In Minecraft, it could be used to defend against Creepers and griefers.)
I wanted to try a moving one, but like you said that is very complicated. For now I'm just looking into getting familiar with building with redstone in mind so that way once I do get around to a moving door like a portcullis I am better acquainted with it. Fences are a great idea though, thanks for the tip!

Those churches are really gorgeous. Have you built Armenian structures in Minecraft before? I'm really interested in how they would translate.

Wow, thanks for the history lesson, I did not actually know that about christianity. Now to actually try and remember it to impress a history buff I play with.
As for the concept, yeah that was what it looked to me like. And yes I think in Minecraft the stone will defenatly translat very well. Not sure if it will be a wood roof to give it some difference or a stone one, will probably build it in creative mode to see what I like best then bring it into my survival world.
I truely can not wait for creative so i can actually get my test world working properly as a test world.
Two problems with that: I don't want to completely mimic something, I just want to know how to go about making my own, and also... I don't play Skyrim.
