First off, sorry if this question has been posted to death.
In the next update we wont have breeding, that much is clear to me. Though apparantly animals will not de-spawn if we go too far away from them (correct me if im wrong).
So this leads me to wonder if theres a limit to how many animals we can have if we decide to trap/farm them. Does any one know?
There is a limit to how many passive mobs can naturally spawn. It's in the game currently. With breeding, there is no limit since you can just keep breeding them. The limit only effects the game spawning passive mobs naturally.
I also wouldn't be too sure about animals despawning in the next update either. 4J decided not to add breeding, but 4JSteve said not to worry about running out of animals. That to me sounds like we might still have regular animal spawning until breeding is added.
