Hey guys! I need some bricks for my fireplace, and i cant find ANY clay at all in my world. Like none. is there any clay finding tips out there? thanks. is it possible theres no clay in a world?
only if it was made before they fixed that sometime before the 1.7.3 update.
For the most part i don't know of a world now after that update that doesn't at least have a little bit in it. I would suggest looking around the shores everywhere there is sand near water. That would be most liable place to look.
When the 1.8.2 update comes in... any new world you could just find it along the ocean floor and underwater as well.
But follow the first bit I said and you should find at least a little bit. That is if it is a world that was made after 1.7.3 update which was earlier last month i believe. Anyway Shoreline and possibly look for the bluish sand in the water too as that just might be is. The way to tell the difference is that clay takes a bit longer to mine than sand. good luck and i hope you find some.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
what a coincidence, today I just found some clay in my very first map haha I thought I was never gonna be able to get some, because I made my map the first day when the game was release. I was like OMFG!! clay *-----*!! haha
Make yourself a few boats and travel around the shores of your map. Do it in third person so that you can look down into the water. They are usually in small chunks just under the water. Or atleast that was the way I found them in my wourld.

That would be only after this upcoming update that would be so.... The Shoreline would be the most liable place, or should be anyway.
I have found clay in my current world 2 blocks deep under the water. None of that pocket is above the water line. This pocket was also near the very edge of my map (i.e. it is in the ocean). Perhaps they brought that part of the update forward in June or July when they were trying to fix the clay issue.
currently in xbox edition there are no swamp biomes really currently in finding clay its just a luck thing although I could post a seed of a world that I have that has clear very near the coast
Oh, GOD DAMN IT! I keep setting my forum filters to exclude xBox and PE threads (I have no way of playing either), but it keeps resetting! I thought this was a normal survival thread.

Quite possible but unlikely, at least from my experience. The amount of clay i do find in the xbox does not even compare to the amount i would find in the pc version in the same radius... Besides at current it is all just in chunks, but with the next update it would be part of the water biome itself being part of the ocean floor deliberately. Since it would be mix dirt, clay, and sand. however i have not seen that kind of thing in the current version, at least not as continuous as it practically is in the next one.
I don't really know the changes well, only the differences between the two as i only recently started both. i came in sometime in July/August roughly on xbox and recently started playing a few different versions of the pc ones about a month ago. Just enough form observation for me to come to this conclusion. I have tendency to make a lot of maps on both versions of minecraft just to explore the surface area see how seeds turn out topside.

No disagreement. I was hoping it would get more common down the road. For now, I just didn't want the OP to completely discount looking in water a few blocks down in the ocean. When it's as rare as it is, a person should look at every possibility. By scrounging in this way, I have at last found just enough (I think) in my world to make the small brick school I have planned.

I know this is a big problem now. I can't find any.
yeah this is a good way

Yeah, that's not until a later update.
