I'm sure you are all aware of redstone clocks, you know, the ones that can make doors open... Then close... Open... Then close... Without you doing anything. I'm sure you also are aware you have to reset them each time you join a game... And sometimes they burn out in game. I'm also sure some of you should know how to a minecart clock. Same affect, but uses a minecart instead of repeaters. What if, you used a furncace minecart? And put coal in it? Well, I present to you.. The Timed Redstone Clock!
A single piece of coal burns for about 2minutes (couldn't find it's exact time)
Meaning your minecart runs for about 2minutes if you put a single piece of coal in, what about other items? Like saplings and wood? Those work too if you want short clocks, or you could put a whole stack of coal or later on a whole stack of blaze rods... (Which last up 100 blocks each one, same with a lava bucket)
Think of the things you could do,
you could have a timed door EXTREMELY EASILY, or maybe a little contraption that you want to loop but not for forever?
I will show a little picture tutorial after I move, (next week)

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
Or you could set something up where every once in a while a minecart would hit a detector rail and set of the timer. If you want the timer to be longer you just have to increase the distance the minecart has to travel and vice versa.

But then it goes forever, this only makes it go for a certain amount of time

Ik, this problem sorta fixes that. I wish clocks could work even after you quit a game though.

Good idea but you can only put one piece of coal in a furnace cart at once. Wood and saplings dont work in them either.
Yeah, I wish furncace minecarts acted like real furncaces though

Levers will burn out a clock, you must use a button, a minecart, or a redstone torch that you put down then pick up.

None off my clocks burnout when reloading my world, guess I'm one of the lucky ones who doesnt have this problem, I'd rather use a binary counter (or ripple counter) then a furnace cart. Check them out.

You have to reset them, a redstone clock won't continue sending a signal in a clock over games.

Or if you used a duped source block of coal. I put one in a furnace and even after using it to smelt a bunch cobble to stone it still said it had 64 pieces of coal in the furnace.

not true at all. there are 2 well known clocks that use levers. one being a piston clock. and the other using the burn out of a torch and a lever to turn the torch on and off.

Even a minecart clock can have a glitch similar to any other clock "burning out" or freezing. I have an RNG where one of the clocks' detector rail is stuck sending a high signal every once in awhile. And it's always the 4's digit, and it always seems to come back... strangest thing.
This is a cool idea though, and unique to me. But, I just don't like minecart clocks, never use them, except to run RNG's. For everything else they're terrible, it's pretty much impossible to determine the speed per cycle accurately. Plus, you have to block them off from animals if they're near the ground.
If only there was a clock that could work in between games..
