Before I start on my rant about why 1.8.2 is overdue, I'd like to give a shout out to Tru3shots, who added me on xbox, I haven't forgotton about you buddy, Hang in there! (By the way, sorry the message was short and fast, I had to hop off, duty called on the homefront!)
Lately, I have noticed my minecraft being a bit laggy and buggy. Which obviously to any avid crafter is NOT gusta worthy! I've expirence choppy lags, falling through the map and even blocks regenterating themselves like cyborgs - and most recently water starting flow from thin air. Mining has become a task which i'm trying to avoid now, which is obviously badbecause the name of the game IS MINECRAFT.
Another thing in which I think really needs to be AT LEAST considered are the mods regarding the xbox. Um... HELLO, yes you should add the mods, especially the most popular, Flying - It is so annoying having to dig myself out of places and find my way back to where my main mine is WITHOUT my map which was burned inlavawhen I accidentally pressed the (B) button when standing near it!. WIth my luck, I ended up getting a seed without ANY sugar cane, so I am mapless. Though, I do fully enjoy that aspect of the game. It gives the game some bulk and challenge.
Which mods if any do you think should be added to the Xbox edition?
Anyway,1.8.2 is overdue and needs to come sooner! These bugs are driving me crazy. - I also have a question, doesn't it annoy you when you're in the middle of doing something and the autosave comes on? I know, I know, I can change in the pause menu, but better safe than sorry right? My current setting is every 30 minutes. What's yours?
As much as we would all like it, the Xbox 360 Edition will never get mods. If we're lucky enough, 4J will create DLC based on some of the mods the PC version has. We will get something in the future, but not mods.
As for all of the bugs you have been experiencing, I have no idea how to explain that. I've never heard of them before. Also, I'm not sure the 1.8.2 update will fix any of them. My guess is that some time after 1.8.2 comes out (maybe a month after), there will be a bug fix. Hopefully the issues you are having will be addressed. Try to bring them to 4J's attention.
I also found autosave to be quite annoying. Don't get me wrong it's very helpful and I am grateful that we have it, but I turned it off. I'm thinking of switching it back on. I had it set to every 15 minutes haha. It was a little overkill.
Look, everyone would prefer that the update came out tomorrow rather than the day it actually will come out, but it's not far down the road. Try to find something to do that doesn't involve playing Minecraft. Hopefully it will get your mind off the update and make you want to play the update even more when it comes out and keep you interested in playing Minecraft for a longer amount of time. I even made a thread about what people are doing in the weeks leading up to the update.
Aww, are wou impatient and can't wait for da new update..?
Heheh,
They are currently making some modifications and soon sending it out to cert testing... 12 days max

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
And here is one from someone with over 500 posts. 1.8.2 may fix bugs but I doubt it will fix too much of the lag. So if you think this is gonna be your safe haven then sorry to break it to you, it's most likely not. I too get the lag, my friends. They get the lag, everyone gets the lag. Until 4J implements a way to fix that, we will have to adapt. I however, dont see them doing this in 1.8. Have a good one pal
The only time i experience those sort of things is on the PC version. As for the lag thing i don't get any when I play offline, and i may get a lil' when i have that online checkbox checked, but nothing too game breaking. I would love to play the PC version over this at the moment, but just don't want to deal with the issues it seems to have with my laptop.
Anyway i consider each a separate game, so xbox i will always play as much as PC version, just to have a different feel. And the primary reason i am in no rush to have the update come rain down on us. It comes when it comes.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Jess, the underlining, the bolding, the colors... Your post is... difficult to look at. It's hard to take someone's opinion seriously when it looks like a MySpace page.
Complaining about bugs and rushing the next update in the same post? Wow, that's like a contradiction slam dunk. You think the game is glitchy now, just see what happens if they release an update without thoroughly testing it.
I don't think there is a soul out there who doesn't want an update to this game. But that will only sate many of them for a bit, at which point they will scream for the next update, like a never-ending cycle of baby birds screaming for their next regurgitated worm. Be patient and know that you're waiting longer for a quality update, rather than a quick hack job that'll need patches.
As far as mods go, it would behoove every XBox 360 owner to have at least a basic understanding of how Microsoft and XBLA works before they begin their lists of things they'd like to see in Minecraft XBL. Skin editors, texture packs, mods, things like this have to be carefully controlled, especially because (with the maturity level of online gamer I have too-often encountered) it would only be a matter of time before there were naked lady skins running through fields of cocks being chased by walking vaginas.
On the PC is one thing, because it is not a tightly controlled environment. But Microsoft XBox Live is a tightly controlled environment, and Microsoft won't open themselves up to problems that their gamers would invariably create for them if left with no creative shackles. If you truly crave the freedom that the PC platform offers, the only option is to play the PC platform.
People wishing for skin editors make me laugh the hardest. Yeah, it'd be neat, until I ran into my 50th Spider-Man, at which point I'd need to punch a motherf---er in the mouth for their lack of creativity. You cannot use an intellectual property that you do not have rights to in a public forum without there being penalties. City of Heroes faced similar problems a while ago because people were using the character creators to make Wolverine 500,000 times a day, and Marvel doesn't like seeing a bunch of Wolverines tea-bagging each other (at least without them seeing some residual cash from it).
It's fun to play around and use skin editors like Novaskin to see if I can make an 8-bit version of my favorite comic book and movie heroes, but until every single online gamer becomes responsible enough to use such tools without A.) infringing on someone else's IP, and B.) acting like a 10 year old who just saw his first set of boobies (a.k.a. never), then skin editors, texture packs and mods are absent from MCXBL.
Hey people!
I also have a question, doesn't it annoy you when you're in the middle of doing something and the autosave comes on? I know, I know, I can change in the pause menu, but better safe than sorry right? My current setting is every 30 minutes. What's yours?
My autosave is set of OFF. I make a point of manually saving frequently. That way, the responsibility is mine; but also I have total control. No accidental saves when I don't want them.
As for the rest: While the update will make obtaining sugar cane easy through creative mode, it is possible that your current world does have sugar cane. I just spotted some in my world growing in a cave next close to some lava.
My cave sugar cane and "water flowing from mid-air" are rare oddities that can occur when the terrain first generates. It's the same thing as "floating islands" of dirt or stone - and lots of people love these. Voids in the bedrock are the same thing; and the wiki clearly indicates that they do occur (allowing you to fall through the map), so best approach when mining near bedrock is be sure to not mine directly below your feet and look for the "bottom" before you jump down into any hole.
From your post, I just get the impression you're trying to mine to quickly and prehaps even recklessly for your current skill level. Slow down a little and you won't die quite as frequently. I intentially use mining recklessly as a way to make it more exciting; but then I have to accept that I'm probably going to fall in lava occasionally and lose my items. The update won't suddenly make you a better miner. With mineshafts and ravines, mining is going to get a lot more difficult.
Orienteering without your map should get easy as you familiarize yourself with the landmarks around your home. In the meantime, you can mark out paths and arrows with torches and/or redstone to indicate the way home when you're out exploring. You can also take note of what direction the sun, moon and clouds are moving when you leave home in order to develop a sense of direction.
Lag happens and it's not always the game's fault. It could be your internet connection. Also, you can try saving, exiting, and then leaving your XBox off for a little while. This allows it to clear out the RAM and cool down.
Also, nothing in the way of ranting is going to make the 1.8.2 update come any faster. 4J know it's behind schedule and they have indicated that they are working on it hard in order to get it into Certification Testing. Then, how long that takes is completely out of their control.
