Xbox worlds are 1024x1024 if I'm right, and with creative mode coming soon a good number of people are probably going to make their creative world super-flat, myself included.
But that seems boring to me...a whole world with nothing but a flat layer of dirt seems kind of lame to me, so they should make a feature where you can choose between having your entire world super-flat, or a certain number of chunks. If I'm right with this, chunks are 16x16 so that means that there are 64 chunks in our worlds. I personally would like to have maybe 20-30 chunks super-flat, and the other chunks naturally generated with mountains, deserts, so on and so-forth so that I can have a view from my castle when I play with friends.
If this is already being implemented, talked about, confirmed, or just stupid, I apologize for posting an unnecessary topic.
The world's area is 864 x 864. Also, not sure how you got 64 chunks... unless you just mean the length and width. The area of the map contains 2,916 chunks.
Other than that, it's not a bad idea. But most people using superflat aren't going to care what the world looks like. I assume most people will use it in an experimental world. Testing redstone mechanisms, designing things, stuff like that.

Don't ask me why, but with the super flat Nether making it easy to mod the dimension on the 360 without having to delete a ton of blocks and with the addition of creative mode, I want to make the Nether look like the Overworld in one of my worlds just because I think it would be funny to see ghasts flying around forests and mountains.
I want my main world to be super-flat, but I don't want to see just sky and grass when I look out. And I definitely don't want to make my own mountains.
