It has nothing to do with storage space. Minecraft in general is a small game. For both Console and PC. But PC has the RAM for infinite worlds. Xbox does not.
but i just dont get how indie games like castle miner have infinite worlds and no chunk limit.

This is like saying why can't a Ford be like a Rolls Royce- they're both just automobiles, right?
The more direct answer is CM doesn't have to do near the stuff MC does, nor is it as complicated. As I said in my other post, MC xbox probably could have infinite worlds, but you wouldn't like it because of all the stuff you'd have to give up. In other words, would you like to have infinite worlds in the xbox.... but it's barely a step above MCPE?
I know "infinite" worlds are important to some, but if you can't build your super-duper creation within 154 acres, something's wrong.
My 250 gb hard drive xbox can definitely handle an infinite minecraft xbox 360 world considering that Castleminer, Fortresscraft, and Miner 4 Ever can all infinitely generate worlds, and they are only indie games, and they run graphics that are way better than minecraft.
Excuse me if I'm being dumb but if it was the ram or anything other than the hard drive was the problem why would the PC be able to handle infinite worlds?
Wouldn't they need infinite ram to run infinite worlds?
...if that is the problem.
556 mb or whatever Xbox has should be able to run at least 1/8 or the suggested 4 gb max of the PC version. 1/8 of infinite still = infinite

RAM is the problem.
The PC does not have infinite worlds. People really need to get that idea out of their heads. They have limited worlds just like we do, they're just huge. Our world is 864 x 864 while the PC worlds are 30,000,000 x 30,000,000. They have an end. The minimum requirements to run Minecraft somewhat well is 2GB of RAM on the PC. The recommended RAM is 4GB. The Xbox 360 only has 512MB.
The PC is also a lot more streamlined in how it handles it's memory, the loading and unloading of chunks in the world.
why why why do people dig up old, dead topics? and then they insist on not reading ANY previous replies to the op and end up posting something that had already been stated most likely several times before them.... please explain this to me. I dont know if my hatred for this is unreasonable, i dont think it is, but i really just dont get it. and i guess this one isn't quite as bad as ones that are dug up from freaking may or june.
I just went back through the thread and im going to quote every post that stated something to do with what the problem is (some being on THIS PAGE)
I guess I'll just post this every time this comes up....
It basically come down to one simple fact. The Xbox 360 is 7 years old and it just isn't powerful enough to have seemingly infinite worlds like the PC. It's running at 60fps, outputting in 720p, and your Xbox is running both the Client and the Server at all times. Plus supporting drop-in drop-out 4 player split screen and 8 player online multiplayer. It has nothing to do with your Hard Drive. It has everything to do with the Xbox 360's processors and RAM.
File size isn't the issue. You would have to be mad not to realise this. A world file is around 10 mb ish on xbox. Its the stress put on your xbox as it acts as a server a hosts the entire world. All those blocks. If its so east to get around this write the code yourselves but stop moaning FFS.
Also, it has nothing to do with the GPU or the motherboard. Well, slightly the motherboard since you would need a different model to allow for more RAM, but still, motherboards don't have much of a direct influence on performance.
*sigh* So many people trying to sound intelligent.
Its all about the ram.if they make it unlimited it would freeze. I have only 2gig on my Pc and every now and then it says out of memory and shuts minecraft down.

Xbox's cpu is just sightly slower than core i7.I believe the problem lies on the ram
Xbox's gpu is a mix of ati x800 and x1800.It is not fasrt enough to handle large worlds.
every one of those. it would've taken a fraction of the time it took whoever the hell unburied this to look up a few posts on this page than it did to type his reply. so i ask once more. Why do people bring back well beyond dead topics with an ignorant, redundant post? it would take less than a minute to skim a page to see several others have already said what you're thinking about saying.

Dude people have said that it isnt about space if you cant read. the pc also dose not have infinite worlds. and also castle miner and all those games look much worse than minecraft. end of story

Retired StaffIt's done it before, in a clone with higher res graphics. It could easily pull it off with MC.
