no but really, I could see minecraft being an excellent game for the entire family to play together, working together and all being creative, it could be good for bonding if everyone's just havin a good time.
(34 pappa) my parents dont play. no woman to play either because they feel shopping and partying is more important so 4 of my 5 kids play at various times, although the 5 year old is struggling at understanding the controls still, the 6 year old plays like he has been playing for years, and my 11 and 14 year olds do their thing while im busy diggin underground and collecting resources that they all steal...
I'm a Minecraft Mom who is also in her late 30's. My kids are how I got into MC. (Our family loves a rousing game that we can all play together. Like Dungeon Defenders or Castle Crashers.)
My 11 year old son doesn't want to play with me anymore though. To try and sum up his reasons, he feels inadequate with the building side of things. Somehow the assurance that he will improve doesn't seem to cut it because I'm the enemy right now. It's okay though, he still kicks my butt at Halo.
My little girls (4&6) have their own world they build on and I will help them there. In my main world they are more interested in playing in the stuff I've built than anything else. This is a great relief to me because that world looks pretty darned nice and I don't really want composite buildings dotting the landscape and sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of one of my towns.
My husband HATES Minecraft. You've heard of Warcraft Widows? There is probably a subset out there for Widowers of gaming wives. He tolerates my fascination with it and doesn't get too upset because all the major stuff is taken care of around here.
