^^^ You could try this. I saw a really good pixel art editor once that only had color choices for the blocks that are actually in MC, but I couldn't find it again.
Here's a few of my favorite places in that city I've been working on It's probably not even a 10th of the way done. I should let you all know right now that my friends and I did use the dupe glitch since we didn't have creative mode and felt that a project as big as this would be impossible without it. I do have other 'survival' worlds where i maintain a strict no duping policy, but the buildings there are more utilitarian and less fancy than these.
My friends and I are preparing this map to eventually be a survival map where the goal is to scavenge food and tools from these buildings and fight your way out of the city. The exit will be hidden and we'll do our best to keep people from being able to simply tunnel their ways out. (Here's hoping for Bedrock in creative mode!)
Before we convert this map to the zombie survival map, we're going to remove all of the light sources aside from those in the few safe zones set up, and we'll take TNT to the buildings to give them that post apocalyptic look. We're gonna keep a save around where the city is still pristine, though. It'd be a shame not to!
We'll start off with a 360 aerial view of the city from a skyscraper that touches the height limit.
Here's the building that was taken from. It's not very pretty itself, but it's supposed to be an intimidating federal building so. . .
Next up is my Spleef arena that uses a redstone machine and a glitch with sand to rebuild the floor after each round of combat!
Here's the Outside of the arena with Spleef spelled out in lava!
Here's the stands that overlook the arena floor with a glass respawn chamber so that contestants can watch the match after being eliminated.
And here's a small part of the machine that rebuilds the floor. Unfortunately most of the wiring runs under the floors where we couldn't get a picture of it. This is a maintenance shaft for when the sand blocks break or the machine drops it's blocks.
Next up is my favorite hotel I like to call The Pagoda Hotel.
Here's the front entrance to the hotel
This is the Lobby, sporting dual reception desks and a 2-story fountain!
Next up is the indoor, lighted, and temperature controlled swimming pool and rec area
This is the dining room. I forgot to put in the chairs before i took the picture. Sorry, about that!
This is your basic single hotel room. it's the cheapest type of room in the place. The building has 34 of these rooms. Each room comes with a double chest, furnace, workbench, bed, lamp, counter, TV, and bookshelf!
This is a double bedroom. The hotel has 16 of these. they come with everything the single rooms have plus an extra bed, chair, and refrigerator. If you press that button at the bottom of the fridge a dispenser hidden under the floor tosses a food item at you!
The chair is in the corner just out of shot!
Above all that is the Penthouse Suite, a fully functional 3 story townhouse with a living room, 2 dens, a dining hall, kitchens, 4 bedrooms, and 6 balconies overlooking the skyline of the city!
Here's the Dining Hall featuring a table that seats 8.
This picture is of the full kitchen with a wonderful view of the city!
This last shot is of the view from one of the bedroom balconies. you can see where the city is still under heavy construction!
Unfortunately the living room, dens, and bedrooms are currently unfinished and a bit of a mess as we're using these rooms as a staging area for our projects in this area!
Last but not least is a Mineball arena designed to be another playable minigame within our city! The inspiration and basic design came from this Achievement Hunter video and all the credit for the game's concept goes to AxialMatt.
This is by far the biggest thing I've built in Minecraft and will be the biggest thing I'll ever build without Creative Mode! Here's an Aerial view of the Mineball Stadium. (This was the only way to fit it all in any shot and was taken from the nearby Space Needle, that building with the saucer on top of it)
Here's a look at the playing field. It is 120 blocks long and 50 blocks wide and is made out of Lime wool that I had to transmog to get as this map is almost entirely covered in snow and Ice and is devoid of Cacti!
The field is divided into two sides, the blue side which hold's the Creepers' end zone and the red side Belonging to The Endermen.
Here's a picture of the Creepers' side as seen from the 50 yard line!
Here's the same shot of Endermen territory!
Here's a better shot of the midfield logo. It's supposed to be a diamond, but it looks odd without cyan wool which will replace that dark blue. The blue will then replace those inside black lines. (come on 1.8.2! lol)
Here's a closer shot of one of the press boxes and player benches. the blue chamber under the helmet is where the blue players will respawn after being killed. The other side is exactly the same, only the colors are reversed, Blue helmet and red chamber.
Last but not least are the Concession stands. these inhabit the inner ring of the stadium underneath all the stands. there are staircases that lead down here from the stands in all four corners of the building hidden under the team mascot heads. Once again i forgot to place chairs at each of the tables, but you can still get the idea of what they'll look like when I've finished this project!
So there we are, those are the three buildings i built that I consider my best builds. The tower at the beginning was built by my friend Tick and I, though the design was all his idea i was just following his lead! The Spleef Arena, Pagoda Hotel, and Mineball Stadium were my designs that were built with the help of Tick, RisingChaos, and Lady Gamma. Gotta give credit where credit is due and I did not lay every brick of these buildings. Hey, that's what friends are for!
I was about to take pictures of my world just the other day. I'm sad to say that after finally finishing my mansion that was about 85x110 blocks in size 2 floors and a basement, is now on a corrupted world. I spent 3 days planning it out on paper. I did it in a full modern style. Lost ambition until the 1.8.2 update. Will post pics when I start building my new world.
Well, no, it was a browser based editor. The program you posted looks a lot better though. In the thing I found, you couldn't import an image or anything like that. OP should definitely go with this one.

Wow, epic on the win sir, must have taken alot of time. I sir am very jealous, but like many have lost interest until the adventure update. Then my fun shall begin. Takes alot of work to scaffold build everything and have to jump down for supplies or fall down and go through and rebuild the scaffold while tearing down the old one.

Thank you much! My trick for scaffolding, if i can help it and din't fall off by accident, is to tear them down as i descend then rebuild them when i return. Otherwise i think dirt would've driven me mad already! Sadly it looks like work on my city has come to a standstill for the first time in the 3 months since we started. This week no one's really been on or interested in working until the update comes out. Hell even my adventure maps are losing flavor as i know i'll be starting a new world when the update hits to play village defender with my minecraft friends.
We're going to find a map that spawns you close to a nice village then we;re going to work together on hard mode to expand the village while building defensive structures to keep the creepers from annihilating it. The rule will be that aside from when we set our spawns there'll be no sleeping! It's going to be epic!
When we get inspiration for a new building we'll return to the city as it's also being prepared for a game mode (but for that we'll need either monster spawners in creative, or Mob Eggs so we have a looong time to finish that.
"Bumped From the Dead"
Just wanted to show off my village
I didn't do the insides of the builds yet but ill get to it.
This is only 1 of the 3 villages on my map that I have.
am aimming for
Cities
Pixel Art
Sky builds
To be for real i just started this world tonight probably about 2 hours of work put into this...idk...
Pretty bad i know but its only a village plus im new to building Im a survival player
My dock Was gonna build a boat next to it but as the updates came out I stopped playing this world. (Underneath the center of the dock there is an entrance to a river which takes you into the island and a lake)
2 way train tracks and my house/storage compartment
Underwater train tracks. On the right you can see my trainstation with 4 incoming tracks and 4 outgoing
A stop on the train track is down at bedrock level
This is a few of me and my mates build, mostly built on splitscreen. AND its a legit, which for some may seem hard to believe...
