And I thought my glacier map was good...and no pine or snow...
The only awesome part of this map is the overhangs, resources, and the amount of dungeons.
Since people here like building so much, maybe you guys could try your hands at some truly difficult and complicated builds.
Omashu - Avatar the Last Airbender
Someone should definitely try building this city. I think it would look amazing in Minecraft.
Ba Sing Se - Avatar The Last Airbender
I'm almost 100% sure that the Xbox 360 Edition's map isn't even big enough to house this city, let alone a small part of it. Nobody but the shows creators know how big the city really is, but I'm guessing it's absolutely massive considering it takes up a significant part of a continent. The outer wall (first picture) has to be at least a few hundred feet high.
If someone managed these, I would be highly impressed.
I would take a shot at it if i had more time on my hands

I never actually thought anyone would do them lol. Just from all of the things I've seen done from TV shows, Anime, Movies, Books, etc, etc. I've never seen anyone make anything from the Avatar series. The Last Airbender or the Legend of Korra.

Idk why. It seems like a cool thing to try. It would be alot easier to do on pc though
A couple of friends and I have build a 'working' coliseum. And by working I mean I've created a number of dark room mob spawners all activated from a single 'Control Room' overlooking the coliseum itself. Activating a switch opens 8 piston doors and releases water to push the mobs onto the arena floor to fight.
You can view some of the pics here - http://mcxphotos.com/boshed/boshtopia. I should really upload some more, which I might look to do this evening.
This is one of the coolest things I've seen in awhile! I realy love that it's not just for looks but is actually functional. Mad props to you and your friends!

I've been thinking about this and trying to puzzle out the scale of the map that they show in the opening credits.
I think, like so many other things, the show's designers played really fast and loose with distance compression. For instance, it is strongly implied that the the train ride the kids took with the King from the palace to the outer wall (Lake Laogai) took no more than part of a day (using earthbending to push the stone cars at little better than running speed), and then they went on to outer wall to see the drill.
Conversely, the Water Tribes are supposed to live at the poles which, in our world are roughly 12,000 miles apart. If the scale on the map is at all consistent, the distance between the center of Ba Sing Se, the edge of Lake Laogai and the wall is about 1/8th the distance from pole to pole. Presuming our worlds are the same size (they would need to be for gravity to be consistent) that means the Kids and the Earth Ming traveled nearly 1500 miles that day.

My first post on the forum, Figured Id make it a good one with some of the things my girlfriend, and some friends have built. This is all our first time playing minecraft and we got it merely weeks after it came out, so heres what we have built. The Lighthouse there made of iron, is the actual "Revolving ligh/Lighthouse" Although once fully operational it is too laggy for the xbox, so I shut it down and left the "shutters" open.

^^^ You could try this. I saw a really good pixel art editor once that only had color choices for the blocks that are actually in MC, but I couldn't find it again.

Then my biggest build to date is my massive boat let me know if you want interior pics:

You could also use Spritecraft:

In conjunction with MCEdit:
