Okay, so, ive been looking for slime for a couple days now (i play minecraft daily) and ive looked at posisbly 14 youtube videos for how to get it and im still lost, all of them say something different. I tried digging down to bedrock and creating a 16x16 room but lava keeps kiling me and such, so do any of you know how to SAFELY harvest slime? aslo, is it possibe on peacefull mode?
There are a bazillion threads on getting slimes already. So I'll let you find those, and just talk about your lava problems here. You should clear your slime area at Layer 12 (Y=12). That's where lava will be at floor level. When you find lava pools, you can fill them in with sand or gravel. The blocks sink to the bottom, replacing all the lava, even what you can't see down below. Gravel can be found all over, so it's the better choice for this. Once you fill in a lava pool, you can dig the gravel back out, and use it again later. Nice and safe after that.
Search "slime 101" in the search bar and look for a slime farm 101 thread. It is very helpful and has a slime finder.

Check my thread out (just click my sig pic) it will have all the info you need for slime farming, if you need further assistance just reply in the thread. My thread has also been added to the pinned topic "Important threads" You'll find it in there too.
I would not dig down to bedrock, slimes spawn from layer 0-16, but I would recommend somewhere around 10-15 on the y-coordinate on your map, preferably above lava, as that's how I did it.
Type in your world seed and it should give you a bunch of green squares. These are where the slimes are relative to your map. Use the coordinates on the slime finder and your map to locate where to dig down. These squares on the slime finder site are not 1 x 1 blocks but 16 x 16 blocks, known as chunks. In the game you would have to move 16 blocks to progress to the next chunk.
Lastly, slimes cannot be found on peaceful. However you can clear out a space for them to spawn (at least 3 high and 16 x 16 or 1 chunk) and light up the area so that no other mobs will spawn there, only slimes, and then turn it onto a higher difficulty.
I would not dig down to bedrock, since slimes can spawn anywhere below layer 40
Slimes dont spawn up to layer 40 until official release. So dont tell him that. They only spawn from layers 0-16.. I know you said you recommend 10-15 but telling him about layer 40 is wrong.
