I actually experienced this yesterday. I was in a cave and I was just looking around.(Peaceful) Then I heard dirt mining noises, like someone was mining. Nothing was actually breaking though. Just the noise.
Another possibility is that some slimes have generated nearby while you were in another mode and you haven't found and killed them yet. They don't despawn when you change back over to peaceful and they do make noises.

also about the mining sounds it sounds like it could be herobrine << o **** i said his name
any hes classified as a "dead miner" so it is possible it was him but it could just be glitches

Doubt it. I have checked my slime farm so many times to see if I can get any slime to get a sticky pistons but no luck.

Have you checked the slime finder to see if any other nearby chunk is also a slime chunk? They don't just spawn inside slime farms, the spawn on the slime chunks and could be spawning nearby on a slime chunk that you haven't specifically set up as part of your farm. Also, the will spawn in any light level, so if your slime floor is near bedrock, you could have a "natural" open floor of a cave above it (but still below layer 16) where your slimes might be spawning instead of on your slime floor. The reason people light up everything is to keep the other mob spawn numbers down so that there is room in the spawn cap for slime (which generally spawn more slowly than the other mobs).

I had a couple of experiences with He**br***. (don't hate I saw him once in a cave and I screamed like a girl ) so when I heard the noises I said holy crud it's he**br*** and I left the word and waited a while to go back to it.
P.s I'm traumatized of he**br***

Slimes sound like stone is being mined, when I first heard it, I assumed it was her*brin* 'cause I thought slimes made a different sound.
