last i heard about sales number PC broke, i THINK, 7 million, and xbox broke 3 or 4 million. both should be getting somewhat close to the next million by now though if they havent already. So PC has made more. its also been out for 3 years though as opposed to a few months.
I don't think it matters. The XBox release is an agreed upon release between the developer (Mojang) and 4J (as the company contracted to change the programming language over to something the XBox understands). Since 4J did not create the game, there is probably either a royalty being paid back to Mojang or Mojang and 4J have agreed upon some sort of profit split. To frame it as a mere "revenue race" between the two companies is a rather reductionist approach to what must be a fairly complex business arrangement.
That deal was, no doubt, struck between the two companies (and Microsoft) in order to access a market beyond that being reached by the PC game alone. All involved saw the potential to profit by it. In addition, the existence of the XBox game has probably increased sales of the PC version as well. That is, some XBox gamers who have bought it on the XBox may now be buying it on the PC and buying a PE edition for they phone as well; where they might never have become interested in it at all if it were just available on the PC
What is clear is that the overall game is quite successful with combined overall sales in the order of, say, 10 or 11 million copies.
i bought it on xbox as i hate pc controles like the mouse etc. im jelous of the pc guys as it has much more than xbox but i can wait for it to get up to date ill enjoy it still
The MS point price is only valid to people who can buy just 1600, every shop that I know used to sell them went under and MS itself makes you buy points in increments of 500.
2000 points= £16.50 which is still cheaper than the PC version but you do need to pay to use XBL.
Pretty sure Microsoft points are regional, even on the internet. So if they aren't sold in a certain amount in stores in say Europe, then they won't be sold in that amount on the internet there either.
Microsoft points are region locked. You can't use points from America anywhere else like England, etc, etc.
Of course the XBLA version is going to make more money, they are charging crazy amounts of money for it. I as well as a lot of other pc users, bought Minecraft for PC pre alpha, and it cost me about £5
Did you read my post at all? i bought the game for $5, along with the vast majority of the pc community. Minecraft was extremely cheap if you bought it in alpha compared to now, most of us PC users paid nowhere near $20 for the game.
... and chocolate bars used to cost a dime.
Back when Minecraft was $5, it was a couple or 3 years ago and Minecraft was just an "idea" for a great new game. The XBox players aren't buying an idea for a game from an upstart indie company with no track record. They're buying a proven successful game, being ported by an established company that has already ported other games onto the XBox. Even though they are buying an earlier version of that game, they have been expressly told that that the game will be "updated eventually" (which is the wording used on the main screen of the game itself), so they know that for their $20 they will eventually receive essentially the same game (re blocks and mobs) as the PC players were, at the time, paying slightly more for (i.e version 1.2.3).
But what version has made the most money?
The PC has piracy but there will still be gazillions of users.
The Xbox wont necessarily have as much piracy, but I'm not sure about the numbers vs the PC users.
So, who makes the most money? Whoever makes the most money will surely gain the lead on resources to improve the game...to make more money!
Any guesses, educated guesses or hard facts anyone?
Xbox 360 - 4,600,000
Pocket Edition - 1,000,000+
It's clear which has made more money. Even with the PC's price changing over the 3 years it's been out, it has still made more money.
This is not a thread about which one has been out longer or which one has more to do in it.
Otherwise the thread might have been called "which one has been out the longest or which one has more to do in it."
Fanboys really are a bunch of tools.
The PC has more content and has been out longer. Some people may consider that when deciding which one to buy.

Note: 7 million users and 37 million accounts on PC. I think the xbox edition is selling well for only one reason.
An easier way of paying. All an 8 year old has to do is ask their mom to go to gamestop, buy a 1600 point card, and boom.
No credit card required.
cant you get them off amazon?

It's only $20, I believe. Cheaper than PC.
You can get an online game code in the US where you buy 1600 MS points and get the code emailed to you, so you don't have to wait for a card.
