And after a few other projects I thought it would be cool to make a castle in the three other corners of the map. This is the beginning of the second castle of the four that I will do.
Got to the Nether finally. Soul sand everywhere on this seed. Or at least a huge chunk of it where my portal is. Makes a very good building material. Got around to finishing the entrance of my city's "art center." It's really nowhere near as dark as this screenshot makes it.
some of us do. I don't think we (at least I don't) feel that the creation is any less impressive if it is duped, just more so if it isn't. It's not like "WOAH SO AWESOME!? Oh, duped? Meh."

"Only the trees which you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, to build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it is subdued." (Deuteronomy 20:20 NKJV)
I have many many cool things in my world but right now me, my lil bro and my wife are working on a HUGE hole down to bedrock, then using all the material we are digging out and making a massive castle with up and down sets of track going to it, a subterranean station for the tracks, and all on the edge of an already impressive town with many unique muildings, a couple redstone doorbells, a giant 3-floor all natural tree house, a bank that has a total 13 digit combination lock (WORKING) to its unerground double wall obsidian vault, etc etc.
The closest I've ever come on minecraft to dupeing or glitching is a mob grinder, but IMO that's fair as it takes lots of patience haha
I will eventually post pics here, but for now I am lazy. If anyone wants to come see this strange snowy land in person, send me a friend request and please, no griefing! We have about 6 mos in this one world, I will give tours but really do not want to see anything destroyed or altered!!!
I've just given my lighthouse a major re-do and this is how it looks now..........
The issue is the glowstone inside of the glass. I'm sitting on the fence on whether to remove the glass entirely and make the ball of glowstone or to leave it as is?

The real question is, what is the reasoning for the glass if you have glowstone in the same shape anyway? To me it makes no sense. I mean if it were just a smaller central local inside it i could understand, however being exact shape molding with the glass is almost pointless in my opinion. Anyways I didn't even know it was glowstone till I read your post.>< looked like grass inside to me...O_o At least from the picture.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I might as well throw this in as well. This is not a "best build", but it is the biggest I've done.
As you can see, there are 4 towers. Each tower has 6 levels. Each level has 4 spawning pads that are 8x8. I'm going to be housing the collection point sometime this week. I will also be adding a walkway about half way up the towers. It will run around the center of the 4 towers. I will also be changing the cobblestone channels for something a little more decorative.
Quick update:
View from one of the towers:
Storage room above the collection point. Ladders continue on to the upper walkway:

If you leave one space between the glass and the glowstone it will be brighter.

I was trying to light it up and my initial thought was lava. The problem became that the lava didn't take on the shape of the glass and it just didn't look right. I then thought glowstone but it isn't very bright. Make the glass shiny but little else. Maybe I'll try just a small central part with glowstone and see what happens.

Here are some other choices.
Thanks! I like the lava...a lot! Might have to give that another try.

This is one of the underground chambers I am attempting to dig out. It is taking much longer than I anticipated, honestly. Getting there, though. Does anybody else really do much of anything underground, or is it just me, seriously?

That is what i initially figured as you mentioned it being a lighthouse. and that other person you quoted has a good show and point of reference i was getting at. Although i don't know why glowstone acts that way through glass when the light it emits from it is suppose to be bright as the sun at a level 15, same with the lava. Yet as show the lava is more brighter...O_o Wonder what fire would look like then. Netherrack being lit at many key locations within that sphere.... is another idea to try out, may not look as great as lava though i would imagine, but worth a try as well.

I personally do a lot of things underground depending on where i am at, like for example my minecart rail system is going to go between a city and a few of the mines I have as well eventually connect up to one i have in mind for an aboveground rail system. Mostly what i have been doing is stylising my mines almost looking like the movie Labyrinth. I usually end up have a base of some sort underground as in a way it is the safest place to work as long as you don't break into a cave system which i have a habbit of doing...>< lol
This is the start of a huge door I will have for my harbor. I needed to design a quad piston extender to be able to push the door open 3 high (with sand) and then drop down below the water so my boat can sail in. This will all go under water on another map and then I just need to design a triple piston extender to close the door.
This thing is 12 pistons wide. Extending is almost instant and retracting takes slightly more than 1 second.

I have made several underground railways because I was tired on animals getting in the way. So I made tunnels that are at lvl 12 that are 3x3 so you can have two sets of tracks and enough height to get out of the cart. But the big thing is to make your tunnel at level 12 or higher, because thatputs you one block above were lava pools form underground. So you never have to worry about getting burned to death.

I made this giant cube out of glowstone and it isn't that bright even at night.
