Ok don't bash me to much but what is the major difference Minecraft is better than Total Miner? I'll probably get minecraft for sure but just seen this other one .
got a question about minecraft on xbox live.
1: If I start a world with a friend and he would like to go into my world and build but I'm not online can he go and build in the world or do I've to be on to invite him?
It looks like it want be too hard to find someone to help with each other world also. only reason looking at total miner is that its alot cheaper
Why not get the trial version of both and compare them yourself?
Just a note; I hated the demo for Minecraft, but then I just bought the game on impulse and really really liked it. I've not played Total Miner, but I've played the other two Minecraft "rip-offs" (Fortresscraft and Castle Miner Z) and Minecraft is much better than both of them by far.
Those Indie titles may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
I used to play TotalMiner before Minecraft was released. Since MC came out, I haven't touched TM again, not even once. That should tell you something.
The only thing better about TM is the online games. They have world sharing, player permissions, and I think 16 people can be on the world at the same time? Also the worlds are a lot bigger. MC doesn't have world sharing or player permissions, and only 8 people per game. But, MC has animals, farming, more aggro mobs, redstone, which you can build machines with and all sorts of goodies. Total Miner only has one mob, the spider, and it only spawns from spider eggs. In MC hostile mobs will spawn anywhere where it is dark, and there are lots of them, plus on grass, in the light, cows, sheep, chickens, and wolves can spawn, there are also squid. TM has no passive "animal" mobs, no wheat, melons, pumpkins, or any of that fun stuff.
Hmm... it is a toss up for me. 50-50. I like both as individual games. Each has their own good bad, but the main difference is the dig deep mode that TM has, and the way you progress in crafting in that mode by finding blueprints. Soon though when the author has finished his next update there will be A survivor mode similar to minecraft, but it will be quite different as like i said i look at each as a individual different game.
Almost how i look at the PC MC and the xbox version. To me each is a different game, and it will show that difference in what goes into it adn in future will probably even be noticable as they take their own route eventually.
For me i eventually bought both. MC first since that was a hype, but fell in love with it. I like TM for other reasons so i ended up getting that too, I mean after all it is just a little price to get similar game. Right now though MC is better as i don't seem much biome in TM, and things tend to look almost same above ground.
Anyway i would suggest watching videos and doing some research into each to decide. But i'm sure MC would be a pretty good buy, especially now since 1.7.3 version has some rather interesting variety in mountains and plains biomes.... At least in most that i have loading on the pc version i don't get many epic mountains like i do in 1.7.3, at least not with out it being cut in half by some ravine.. --_--.
So get what you can or believe is best after watching many videos or info on each.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Just a note; I hated the demo for Minecraft, but then I just bought the game on impulse and really really liked it. I've not played Total Miner, but I've played the other two Minecraft "rip-offs" (Fortresscraft and Castle Miner Z) and Minecraft is much better than both of them by far.

same here @ hating the demo for minecraft. i'd never played MC before and when it first came out i downloaded the demo. didn't like it AT ALL. so in july i had some free microsoft points and couldn't decide on a game, so i just said screw it and got MC cause it was pretty much free to me. best decision ever.
TM is a good game. a great game really FOR THE PRICE, but it just can't compare to MC. my 2 main problems with TM are that you almost literally do nothing but dig. hundreds and hundreds of layers just to get to the next type of block, only to do it again. and again. AND AGAIN. it just gets boring. plus having to find blueprints, while an original idea, just isn't very fun.

I agree with this guy. Honestly I would say TM:F is one of the best, if not the best indie game on the 360 indie market. Definitely worth $3, but if you compare it to MC, disregarding price, it doesn't hold a candle to it. You do get what you pay for, MC is nearly seven times the price, but it's also at least seven times more developed, and there's a lot more to do. Building wise, if you just want to make cities, villages, and castles, you're going to get about the same thing out of either game. But redstone adds limitless possibilities, literally. And like I said in my first post, farming... freakin' FARMING, man! Another pro to TM I forgot to mention in my other post was currency, which I think 4J should take example from. It's really nice to sell all the dirt and stuff you're never going to use and buy items you actually need. In MC, you end up either dropping your dirt, or stuffing it in a chest and most likely never touch it again. MC turns you into a hoarder!
I loved total miner before Minecraft, but now since MC came out, I deleted it. Minecraft's texture is
a lot better, it is less complicated and ridiculous than Total Miner as well. There are randomly generated
things, biomes (Snowy, forest, mountains, etc. areas), creatures, a lot of stuff. All Total Miner depends
on is the mining aspect of Minecraft, which get's very boring after awhile. Definitely get Minecraft.
i wish i could compare them for you. but i havent played TM, and it would probably leave a bad taste in my mouth after playing MC. i like a few others didnt really enjoy the demo. but it does give you the chance to see things that you can do on MC you cant do on TM. like redstone circuits.
also, thy were in the talks about adding rentable servers for world sharing. not sure if they ever finalized that or not. could always be added in a later update, which is another thing about minecraft that is great. the massive game changing updates that add so many elemtns of gameplay, something you probably wont get from an indie game. soon we will have creative. and who knows. we may get an increased player cap, though unlikely. and we may get command controls for hosts. like the pc version has. there is a lot more room for growth with a game that generates a real revenue stream.
Total miner has an enormous cave system but the land on top is as about as big as pocket edition. The game is good but you can't just jump into it you have to find all the blueprints for anything you want to craft and that can be a pain. At the moment total miner has not updated since minecraft came out on Xbox a few months ago . There is no day / night cycles and one 1 really annoying mob that you can only find in caves.
Minecraft on the other hand is much more developed. With quite a few mobs that come out at night and in dark caves. Minecraft has day / night cycle and a decently sized map to roam around in . The caves are not by far as deep as total miner but since the world is larger there are many more caves to find . Minecraft also has red stone etc and pistons .
Keep in mind though total miner has an update in the works that will bring many new things like larger worlds day night cycles possibly more mobs and infinite land creative mode . But the update is still to out and I'm not sure when it will be.
Minecraft though will soon be getting 1.8.2 update which will probably blow anything total miner has out of the water.
The coming update has better lighting, great looking HD graphics, larger worlds, deeper worlds (2300+), copy/paste, new blocks, ramps.... in addition to the usual portals, stores, currency, blueprints, etc. Basically the whole game is being rewritten from scratch so that more mobs, etc. can be added.
Based on looks only, I would not get it now. Wait for the update!
Other than they're both voxel games, it's hard to compare the two since they're so... different. MC is deeper, but playing it frustrates me because TM has some cool things about it that I wish MC had. If all you play is MC it's hard to imagine that there's another way of doing things.
I have Total Miner, and it is fun for a moderate amount of time. But Minecraft will keep you busy longer. Also, Total Miner is riddled with glitches, like getting stuck in walls. They are both good games, but I suggest Minecraft.
i think total miner is way worse than minecraft it only has one mob that you find really deep in the world finding the bluprints takes allot of time and caveins happen which i find really anoying.

There's plenty of room for both.
Total miner is only 3$ so why not. Minecraft is a must though either way .
I agree with this, just gett the trial for both games and see what suits you better
