So ive been hearing a lot about minecraft latley. It looks pretty cool. I notice its for Xbox, android, and PC (to name a few). I have a couple questions that i cant find the answer for, probably because i dont know the terminology yet. But here goes..
If i start playing on Xbox, can i use my phone to play my saved game or "world" ive created on Xbox, and vise versa?
Ive heard about seeds. Explain?
Any help would be appreciated before i shell out the money to buy these games. Thanks!
Like Bedrock_placer said, you can only play the save on the device it was saved on.
As for seeds, read on...
Minecraftseeds are values made up of characters (including numbers), or just one character, that is used as the basis for generating every Minecraft world.
Whenever the game has to generate a new world, it calls upon an algorithm. This algorithm will output a pseudo-random value that is then used to determine what the world will look like. However, the algorithm will always end up with the same value if the starting point (seed) that the algorithm uses is the same number.
This is why seeds exist-to easily generate entirely different worlds from a single value.
Cool thanks guys. I guess im gonna go ahead and buy it for Xbox. It would be really cool if when we left the house we could sync our androids up and continue the journey!
I asked about playing your saves with your phone because i noticed the Android version wasn’t "TOO" bad, you couldn’t see as far because very little of the background was loading. I was thinking maybe it would be possible, but not as powerful. For such a pixilated game it uses a ton of resources.
That's because you can control every voxel (i.e., block) in your world. The entire volume of the world is yours to shape and change at will. That will always be resource-intensive, regardless of blocky graphics.
I bought a Windows phone for all of the XBox linking capabilities.
Yeah, it doesn't really have any, they totally misled people on that. (M$ not MJ)
I know the phone can't handle Xbox games, I want mobile games that link to my Xbox, not games that replace it. Like a match 3 game or whack-a-creeper, or some other "simple" game, that when played the rewards actually make a difference in my console game. (I think Toy Soldiers did something like this with a browser based game, but it didn't really give enough, if that makes sense.)

Just compare the mobile version of Minecraft with the Xbox 360 Edition. Unbelievable difference.
Compare the Mobile to PC, WAY more difference.
Phones can barely handle Minecraft.
