Obsidian is actually very brittle in real life but can be very sharp. More sharper than surgical tools actually. I think it would be great to make arrowheads out of obsidian and use that instead of flint to make stronger arrows. For tools, it would be terrible because since it is so brittle, it would break easily. For a weapon, I would enjoy using an aztec weapon called the Macuahuitl. It is a sharp weapon and very deadly but broke easily.
Crafting:
Obsidian=2 Obsidian shards
1 Obsidian Shard+Stick+Feather= 1 Obsidian Arrow(Makes it less common then normal arrows)
Macuahuitl would be crafted as such

Does 10 hearts damage each hit(OHK all creatures except huge slimes and spider jockeys)

How do you do this on XBOX, when I look at making things I only see what is on the screen. Like Diamond Axes, Arrows and such in crafting mode. I'm very new, only get the game Monday, and when I'm in friends worlds the have Redstone Torches and such.
Xbox doesn't have craft grids. Obsidian is brittle in real life, but in the world of minecraft, it's so hard you need diamond to properly remove it. (In fact diamond is the only thing that can break it without spending somewhere around 8 minutes mining it)
478 OHKs? That sounds like a lot for such a powerful weapon, think of how easy it would be to deal with groups of mobs if you could slice thru them like butter. If it's supposed to be really brittle, then maybe 10-50 uses cuz remember, thats 10-50 mobs dead without much effort, and creepers wouldn't even have a chance to blow you up.
I do like the idea of more uses for obsidian though

After making one, the next one you make is paired with it. I know our world a short as it is, but it would be nice to jump from one house to another.
Obsidian weapons sound pretty nice. Having it be really strong and having it only have 30 uses maybe? Armour the same way.
