For Call of Duty, they put everyone on a single connection. Which means, your internet can be the host of a game. You can host 15 other people on there MOST of the time without lag. They are doing the same with that on Minecraft 360. The only problem with that is, you have to leave your xbox on 24/7. It takes up electricity and brings up the electric bill. So servers would generally be a nice idea.
It's called peer to peer, & it's the standard for most games these days.
Servers are the one thing I really want on x-box edition. But if they do make them possible, we're probably going to have to pay for them like all the other dlc for x-box edition....
LOL, so not only are you cursing at 4J, all but insulting everybody who doesn't agree with you, now you're bumping your own thread and DEMANDING 4J answer you.
I'm SOOOOOOOOO sure they're gonna take you seriously.
You don't work for them either. You have no say in what they should be doing after 1.8.2 or any of their future plans really. Your word is not fact, so stop acting like it is and that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong.
Alittle late. But
Can't we all just agree to disagree? You definitely don't work for them, and neither does Box, and neither do any of us without the Title. Your word isn't fact either, unless it's been officially confirmed by 4J, It's just speculation and educated guesses.
We have no say in their future plans? We do actually influence 4J's future plans and projects with Minecraft, they take notice. I had no idea you are so all knowing.
Battlefield even got Rent a servers, thats even less prevalent than it should be with minecraft along the lines of how needed it should be. We have no reason to believe they will never come out with servers, on the contrary of what Box said.
Servers would be cool, but I'm not getting Live Gold, so I'm not going to pay for that AND a server. If they make it similiar to FFXI (where you only pay for their monthly fee and not Live Gold) then that's something I definitely would consider getting into.
Not sure who is telling you that. Because indie games have severs i doubt Microsoft had anything to do with it.
Indie games aren't controlled by Microsoft's ridiculous limitations. Haven't you read the disclaimer that appears every time you launch any indie game?

You had to have Gold and pay the ridiculous $12.something a month to play FFXI. But, boy was it worth it...

Are you sure? From what I've read, you didn't have to have Gold. You probably know more than me though. I haven't had a 360 long and never had Gold either. :/
Considering how much money minecraft is making it would make sense for Microsoft to try to figure something out with a server. There are way too many games out there that are totally wastes of money and dont make anything then there are games like this that could really bring in the bucks especially if they are able to make enhancements like larger worlds.

I've been playing online with consoles ever since people found out you could use system link with a third-party program on your computer to play the first Halo online with the original Xbox.
I had FFXI, I just thought gold was required as well, since it usually is. I don't really know for sure, I never let my Live account go silver. (until recently <.<) But anyway, that's different than renting a server. With games like FFXI, WoW, Guild Wars, and other P2P MMO's you're paying for the online experience. Games like that offer their own dedicated servers for free, but they still own them and have full control over them. If you rent a server, you have full control over it, that comes at a price. Nobody is just going to say, "Here! Free internets!" that would be costing them money, and they wouldn't be getting anything out of it.

Okay, but why would you need to pay for Gold and a server? That's what I don't get. You already pay for internet service and you're paying for the server, so it's not like Gold is charging you because they host the servers or whatever that you get to play on for free.
Seems odd to have to pay for Gold just so you can have access to a server that you are paying for as well.

Because that's how they screw you. You can play sony or nintendo systems for free online, but if you want the best online console gaming experience you have to pay $5 a month. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Even if you just buy a 360 to watch Netflix, which has its own fee, you still need a gold account. Now that is unfair, I wouldn't complain too much about requiring a gold account to host a server. Especially when a decent server would cost a good bit more than a gold account.

I guess it's just hard for me to comprehend, being old school and never getting into online gaming unless it was with people I knew. So I can't see myself ever paying for Gold.
Feel free to correct me If I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure 4J Studios said that after they get 1.8.2 out of the way, they will be working, or looking, into texture packs. I think they may have even twattered about it.
Okay, I will correct you.
4J never said they were working or looking into texture packs after 1.8.2. They said they would look into it, yes, but much later. As in after they catch up to the PC version or at least past 1.2.3. They said the exact same thing for mods as well.
Also, "twattered" is an ugly word. Please use the socially preferred word "Tweeted" Because no matter how old or mature you are, there are still children on these forums and even adults who just plain don't want to see that language.
