Ok, I'm tired of the "4j doesn't own the rights to insert mod here".I know they said they would take inspiration from famous PC mods but knowing 4j it could be the exact same mod. From what I understand modders could not sue 4j if they used their mod because the product was originally 4j/Mojang's Minecraft and all they did was alter it with out permission. Also, yes the mods would be in the form of DLC and 70% of all DLCs are mods made by the developer and so from now on I refuse to say DLC instead of mod.
Only problem is the 'mods' they are talking about are just different game modes, like the CTF mode they are adding. They dont mean things like Tekkit and Aether
Yes they do I mean clay soildeirs tekkit aether the only ones most people want.

No body wants CTF, CTF İS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN ****ING MODS
"... the ones most people want"?
You mean the ones you want.
I don't want "those" old mods.
I want something better than those!
And so should you!
There are poll after poll here that back up his statement. But I agree I doubt they will be bringing something complex via mod/dlc instead they will give us crapware and over charge for it. And yes they could get sued if they copied a PC mod to the xbox then charged you for it separately from the game. Thats why there arent doing it besides the fact they arent good enough programers to create an original game only porting someone elses work to XBLA and only when they have full access to the original code. Like CTRL-C CTRL-V CTRL-C CTRL-V CTRL-C CTRL-V CTRL-C CTRL-V CTRL-C CTRL-V. Release then bug patch, lol.

I don't think it's the rights that matters - it's just a question of saying 'Hey, we love your mod, can we port it to xbox?'
No its more like hey were Microsoft and we really like your mod can we get you to sign this here. Ok great, ok guys tie him down and load him in the back we own your ass now.

Microsoft doesn't really have sign anything. The modders don't own any of "their" mods. They might have to ask Mojang, but seeing how relaxed Mojang is with mods I don't see how it would be a problem.

It depends on the mods and the deals that were struck between Microsoft and Mojang. Some mod makers have copyrighted their mod. That means 4J cannot just take it and use it like they want to.
Those copyrights make it so that derivative works and such can only be done if it's for private use. If 4J took the mod and distributed it on the Xbox 360, that is not private use. They would legally liable.

Do those actually mean anything? Has it actually been tested?

I've never witnessed anyone enforcing the copyrights, but those are real copyrights. There could be legal action taken if someone put one of those with their mod and someone stole the mod claiming it as their own. Or if they made a derivative work from the mod without permission.
Due to the copyright notation of Mojang AB, the copyright holders of Minecraft, any modification is the intellectual property of the authors of the modification, long as you don´t mark original modified or non modified Minecraft files as your own.
If you've bought the game, you may play around with it and modify it. We'd appreciate it if you didn't use this for griefing, though, and remember not to distribute the changes.
Any tools you write for the game from scratch belongs to you. You're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don't just rip art resources and pass them around, that's no fun. Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, including selling them for money. We reserve the final say regarding what constitutes a tool/plugin and what doesn't
Someone can make a mod, claim intellectual property copyrights, and pursue legal action against anyone who does not get permission to use or create derivative works from their mod.

but if someone were to sue Microsoft over it would intellectual property stand in an american court, and I highly doubt many modders took the time to copyright the mods they mostly did in their free time.

Intellectual property lawsuits are happening all the time in America. Just look at this list of ones filed in the last few days. http://www.rfcexpress.com/
Small mods probably wouldn't be copyrighted but I know bigger mods like Aether and what not are.

Okay honestly I don't want aether or tekkit anymore they would take to long, I'd rather have the small clay soldiers mod or the min map even though the mini map is so popular I would guess it is some how copy right even though the idea isn't very original.

It is probably easier for 4J Studios to just create their own DLC.
Yes they do I mean clay soildeirs tekkit aether the only ones most people want.
Yes,but I'm saying they can do what they want.
They can, but it has already been stated in a previous Tweet that they will make their DLC with only the inspiration of other mods.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly don't want to see any of these mods. I'd rather see something useful, like Rei's mini map.
& what do you have to back this up? Polls? Threads? What about the rest of the community that do not visit the minecraft forums?
Who cares about those losers. They don't count.
Turning minecraft into a competitive game is a bad idea. imo.

Nothing better exists
Look down
Those are just examples and a mini map would be amazing!!!
Thats my point.
