lol. nah i dont want to punch anyone. i was venting. thought people would understand my frustration. i work and try to stay pretty busy so its not often i invest this much time in MC so for it to just go up in smoke like that. just really put me in a bad mood. i figured a few people on here would understand that, or want to know about the new security test...(that makes no sense BTW). guess i was wrong.
Well I think Microsoft should have let him back out of the security thing to save his game. I know how annoying it is to work for hours and forget to save and then lose everything. Usually with me its falling into a lava pit though, lol!
Oh and I do save often and havent had this problem in the past month or two, but I dont use auto save for a number of reasons including but not limited to dying during an auto save. That happend to my friend and it sucked. He became part of the lava and then it saved while he was in it. Also I was one of the unlucky ones who saved in the Nether then died and the was suck in what I call hell with no way out until they updated it and I got free.
6 hours in one sitting...Have you no life? There's plenty of other things to do than slouch infront of an Xbox for 6 hours
This is along the lines of what I was thinking. If you play MC 6 hours a day... well... good luck with that bar fight. Hopefully you don't live in a small town like mine, where most people in the bars are oil field boys.
It shouldn't have had to save. There was nothing that prompted him on what was about to happen. This is one of Microsoft's random bugs. You should never be forced to do anything you don't want to do. ie singing out because of a security check.
I had this security check today too. Luckily I wasn't working on anything.

o i live in a small town. but im 6'2 and lift almost every day. so im set. like i said before this was a rare occasion where i just wanted to chill and had a great idea for a project and lost track of time. plus i was out doing yard work and going out in between sessions i didnt just sit here and work on MC for 6 hrs straight, that was accumulated over the entire day., until around 4 am. when this happened. i dont sleep much ive always been a night owl.

thats the point i was trying to convay. when i first wrote this it was 4 am and i was more than a little angry. i think people just like to make matters worse, or try to put others down to make themselves feel... cool.

I think there is an upside and a downside to that. IF his account had been compromised and it was a griefer looking to save a griefed world over his old file, we'd all be singing praises to Microsoft for preventing it from happening.
I agree with having autosave off. It interrupts the flow of the game and can decide to initiate a save at the worst of times. I'd rather decide when to save on my own. Still, there is no doubt, the OP should have decided to manually save far more frequently than after 6 hours of "work." It makes little sense why he didn't at the very least attempt to save the game whenever he took a break to do yard work or just before he attempted to put the XBox back online.
Small town and flaky power is a PITA when it comes to the internet and electronics. I can commiserate. Even with huge surge protectors, we tend to burn up at least 1 router a year.
I don't understand. Can't you set the options when you start to allow others into your world? No friends of friends? How could anyone just pop into your world if you had done this? And then you don't save? What if there was a wreck nearby and knocked out your power? Would you want to punch that person because they knocked out your power and you lost your progress? This whole thread is S-T-U-P-I-D

We're talking about the whole Microsoft Live account being hacked by an imposter and Microsoft doing security checks to ensure that the person using the Live account is actually the person registered on that account. It's NOT the same thing as someone just signing into an online world left vulnerable by not unchecking the "friends of friends" option.
yea, it was the fact that it signed me out without any warning that cuaght me so off guard. and to everyone calling me stupid for not having auto save on. i have it off for a reason. when i work off and on like this ive had greifers jump into my game while im away. i had done a few manual saves but hadnt thought about it in quite a while cuase i had taken a break to do some things. then i was working very diligently on my project and was rather tired from a busy day as well. up until i went to take a picture i didnt even know i was offline. then i just tried to reconnect as ive done numerous times with no problem and i get auto signed out and proped through some security test. yea i could have taken more contengencies to save and such. but ive flip flopped on and offline so many times without losing anything, (my internet drops frequently, and when your internet drops you dont have a chance to save). so why would i think anything of connecting this time. all im saying is it would of been nice had they decided to put in a message saying... "hey your about to get signed out do you want to continue. all unsaved data will be lost". instead of just signing me out on a whim.
killenjoke, I just got infracted for calling you an "idiot" which I sincerely apologize for. I don't really know if you are one or not. My bad.... But, it just riled me up that you physically threatened another person "microsoft employee" by saying you want to punch them in the face several times. Guess physcial violence threats aren't as serious as someone telling someone else they are not a smart person. Ohhhh the world we live in these days. But to each there own. Again sorry for the insult.
That doesn't sound like people getting hacked. This was what I was referring to.
That's just the reason he's given for having the autosave off. Some people HAVE had issues with griefers coming into online worlds, doing things, and then the autosave kicking in and making the griefers work permanent. If the autosave is off, the owner the the world has a chance to undo the griefer's work by intentionally exiting the game without saving. They lose their own work for that session also, but at least the griefer's work gets undone as well. People hacking LIVE accounts is the reason Microsoft is doing the security checks that coincidentally caused the OP to get signed out of XBOX Live and, therefore, unable to manually save his game before that happened.
It would be a more sophisticated than average griefer who might actually hack a LIVE account to impersonate the owner of that world; but it probably could be done that way (if Microsoft didn't occasionally run some security checks on the LIVE accounts). Microsoft isn't specifically looking for griefers - they are after bigger fish - like people compromising credit card numbers as such.

Exactly. Microsoft does not want what happen to PS3 last year to happen to them. They should be thanked for keeping our CC#'s safe.
About the security check will i be able to log in because my windows live doesn't work. It doesn't work because my email that i used for it was hacked and then it sent spam emails and my account is blocked for windows live. I can still play xbox but i cant sign in with my windows live, but i haven't played in 5 days so will it let me play? I just bought a one year xbox live too.
so. my internet dropped. earlier today.... decided to work offline. no big deal. working on and off most of the day. something like 6hrs on a build..... well i go to log in so i can post some pics of the progress. i was very proud of my work..... then i go to log in. and suddenly, i get some security check ive never seen before and some stupid error code..... guss what. without letting me know anything my xbox signs me out and promps me to do some security code... i repeat... my ****ing xbox logged me out.... i had now way of backing out or saying no it decided this all on its own, thus since ive got my auto save off for whatever reason.. all my work was lost...... if you work for microsoft.... dont come near me. i will beat you within an inch of your god forsaken life.. and then keep beating you another inch.... im raging so hard right now. im going to get into a bar fight just to take out this anger on someone......
xD dude no reason to come on here and ***** about it if u want to complain about microsoft go to the xbox.com forums and not here
You left your xbox on for six hours straight and didn't save once? You said you went to do other things, you didn't save & quit? Why didn't you turn off friends of friends or online and leave auto-save on?

As much as I hate Microsoft, I believe they have the better product.
Sony has even worse prices, but they have much better customer service.

Well my friend used his moms once to buy minecraft because i only had cash on me so i think so.
You will likely need to talk directly with the accounts people at XBox Live in order to get back online to download the upcoming update.
