so. my internet dropped. earlier today.... decided to work offline. no big deal. working on and off most of the day. something like 6hrs on a build..... well i go to log in so i can post some pics of the progress. i was very proud of my work..... then i go to log in. and suddenly, i get some security check ive never seen before and some stupid error code..... guss what. without letting me know anything my xbox signs me out and promps me to do some security code... i repeat... my ****ing xbox logged me out.... i had now way of backing out or saying no it decided this all on its own, thus since ive got my auto save off for whatever reason.. all my work was lost...... if you work for microsoft.... dont come near me. i will beat you within an inch of your god forsaken life.. and then keep beating you another inch.... im raging so hard right now. im going to get into a bar fight just to take out this anger on someone......
It's easy to say you should have saved, but honestly there's no way to predict these crazy kinds of things. I've never even heard of what happened to you. I guess from now on you should save often. Maybe even make a backup of your world every now and then.
Microsoft deserves a punch in the face for several reasons, so I'm with you there.
Sorry to hear what happened though. I hate when things happen to make you lose so much time.

just a punch? microsoft deserves 100000000000 punches in faces
You have auto save off and you worked on and off a build for 6 hours and you never once did a manual save? You sir should punch yourself in the face several times. Don't threaten or blame someone else for your own stupidity. Geez.
And now we know to set autosave to every 15 minutes next time
No. Now we know to save our progress while offline before attempting to log back online. I would have done so anyway (sorry, OP, not blaming you for assuming MS wouldn't be such entitled pricks) but now I know that it's an imperative. Autosave is still a bad idea in this game.
The security code request was probably related to the nature of the earlier internet problems you mentioned (perhaps a brown out that caused the XBox to fall offline suddenly without being able to give you a selection of choices in the matter. Yes, you should have saved and you should also keep a manual (off computer) record of your security codes in a safe place, so that you can provide that information if requested by the system.

I used to work for Microsoft, does that count enough? How about I join your game and let you kill me over and over again. Will that make you feel better?

Actually it's something new they started doing recently. They are evaluating everyone's security for their accounts. If they find your security inadequate, they are making you sign in with your email and password. Then, they are making you set up a secondary email, text, or phone call to verify it's you in the event that your account ever becomes compromised.
I had to do it this morning. All I had to do was go create a secondary email on my Live account and it let me sign in no problem.

Good to know. Thanks. As you know, I haven't been online for awhile now; so now I'll be ready for the questions when I move my XBox back online to download the update when it comes.

yea, it was the fact that it signed me out without any warning that cuaght me so off guard. and to everyone calling me stupid for not having auto save on. i have it off for a reason. when i work off and on like this ive had greifers jump into my game while im away. i had done a few manual saves but hadnt thought about it in quite a while cuase i had taken a break to do some things. then i was working very diligently on my project and was rather tired from a busy day as well. up until i went to take a picture i didnt even know i was offline. then i just tried to reconnect as ive done numerous times with no problem and i get auto signed out and proped through some security test. yea i could have taken more contengencies to save and such. but ive flip flopped on and offline so many times without losing anything, (my internet drops frequently, and when your internet drops you dont have a chance to save). so why would i think anything of connecting this time. all im saying is it would of been nice had they decided to put in a message saying... "hey your about to get signed out do you want to continue. all unsaved data will be lost". instead of just signing me out on a whim.
Right:
A) You want to threaten a company because they are trying to protect your account? 6 hours in one sitting...Have you no life? There's plenty of other things to do than slouch infront of an Xbox for 6 hours
C) Autosave is your friend. Dont use it, face the consequences
Long story short, grow up, go outside/meet people instead of playing Xbox for most of the day and learn to save often
Ya done goofed son
i wish people would read thing before trying to insult others. as i said i was off and on, it wasnt one sitting. most of those hours were after 1 am cuase i dont sleep much and i had stopped a few times during the day to go out and do some things. like eat lunch with a friend. she had to go back to work though. and on a day with all your friends are working annd you just want to chill. mc is a good way to do that.
The more you know.
