Unsure of having a dagger, but would be useful at first if not having as much diamond. Prefer saving that for farming obsidian or maybe even armor. I would rather have something like more projectile weapons or even a longer reach multi-mob hit weapon like a spear or something. Of course on that one the damage might not be as much but at least you would have the range for defending...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Eh, I'd rather have a Diamond Kunai, or Shurikens. We need more projectile weapons. Just my ten cents.
That is actually a good idea, much more practical than a dagger. Since you'll actually be able to draw the string on your bow soon, they could have something like throwing knives, which would fire like the bow does now. Obviously it would do a lot less damage than the bow and arrows.
They should make a diamond great axe. It does same damage as a diamond sword and can also be used to chop down wood as effective as a diamond axe. Has 2342 uses.

Can also make a golden version. Does 3 hearts damage and has 682 uses.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm still not used to the whole "charge the bow" aspect of using the Bow and Arrow... I'm not quite... accurate with this system. However, the original "just aim and fire" method worked beautifully for me, and I got good at circle strafing and aiming from a serious distance. That's why I'd love more projectile based weapons.
Too bad we can't have diamond bows/arrows. That would be pretty sweet. Or even a diamond sledgehammer =O
Wonder if they will ever come out with a mineral that is stronger than diamond. If so it would have to be in the nether, or better yet... be able to make obsidian weapons/armor. Just a thought..
I probably shouldn't have... but couldn't resist. Actually, I think a dagger would be appropriate for an obsidian tool. I'd like to see some more practical uses for obsidian in the game, beyond nether portals and buildings that are a PITA if you ever want to renovate them.
DIOMOND is surely the most rare thing in Minecraft. Found zero so far in all my worlds.
Are you digging at all below level 16? I have, since July 14th and net of the ones i've used for tools, I still have more than 100 of them in my primary world alone. Legitimately - no duping whatsoever. I understand they are going to get a little rare in worlds after this update; but since I've explored all my world and, therefore, all the chunks have been generated, I don't think the expected amounts should change in that world at all with the update.
Fail :\

Crikey, it takes 2 diamonds to make a diamond sword and then it lasts for about 520 to 781 kills (per the Minecraft Wiki). How poor a miner are you?

NVM - you're playing on the OPs misspelling. Meh.
