So, I was tempted for about 30sec. I thought about searching out how to duplicate items. I told myself that I did not want to break the game, but I really wanted to dig with diamond. I am creating a 100x60 hole down to bedrock and have been going through pickaxes like mad. I have not done any cheating or duplicating, I have just been digging away for a while. Anyhow I decided that if I found out how to duplicate items I would be tempted to do it. If I do that the game would be less challenging and less fun. So I wanted to pledge publicly not to do duplicate or cheat, since I take my word pretty seriously, this will help me resist. I thought others may feel the same.
I, BigOrangeOgre pledge not to duplicate or glitch in minecraft. I promise to play the game within the spirit intended by all the hard working programers, who made this game possible for me. Thank You.
Look at that, another duplication thread. Big whoop

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
Big Orange, I totally get where you are coming from. I have a 100% legit world too and I have been so very tempted to learn how to dupe but have chosen not to lest I give into that temptation when I've spent hours mining and hording materials. Or scrimping on a build because I just don't have sufficient resources to do exactly what I want.
Pledging not to dupe though........even though I don't do it, I wouldn't take that pledge. The biggest beauty of this game is the ability for each player to play as they wish and I wouldn't have that any other way.

I am a Minecraft tourist. I am currently unavailable under the XBoxLIVE ID listed here but can be found under ZombieL0C0. If you see me online playing Minecraft, send a message and I will gladly take a stroll through your world.
I'll sign this pledge. I dislike duping like crazy and I don't do it. I don't hate when people do it, I just myself wont. I'll use creative mode, but I wont dupe. It just feels different to me.
I could say a lot on this, but i won't.
I'll just say I'll be glad when they get rid of the duping glitch and people have to play with the hand they're dealt.
People who dupe cobble or wood just make me laugh. All it takes is a few stacks of bonemeal, saplings, a diamond axe and a few hours, and you'll have enough wood to do pretty much anything in the game for a very long time. As for cobble, simply bring back the stuff you mine... it's not difficult and before long you again end up with an abundant source for future projects.
Personally I just can't imagine duping - it'd just be so unrewarding, and the kind of thing I'd only expect 10 year olds to do (or the rare, talented duper like the redstone elite on here).
In the case of gathering cobble and wood, the majority of the process is holding the left stick up and the right trigger for hours on end. You laugh at people because they find it fun to build things and would rather get to their project as quickly as possible, instead of spending hours basically doing nothing? That doesn't make much sense to me. I can see why people may find it entertaining to venture deep into caves, in search of diamonds. I myself find this to be pretty fun... for maybe an hour.
Honestly, I would rather spend my time building something that only a handful of people even have the capability to build. Now, I could spend a month gathering the resources for it, and maybe feel slightly more proud when it's finished a month after all of that gathering. Or, I could build two amazing projects, in the same amount of time, and feel like a god.
I don't understand what the big deal is about duping. Is a carpenter looked down upon because he goes to the lumber yard instead of chopping down trees himself? No... Is a musician any worse because he didn't personally build the instrument he's playing? No...

You're making it sound as if it's that easy. :x It's time consuming, and I'd rather spend my time doing something more enjoyable. Not saying that actually doing so isn't rewarding; but if someone just solely wants to build and not bother their time on gathering resources and such, let them. Doesn't really affect you.
Meh, I don't care. I'm not really into the leaderboards like some people though. It just never really bothered me when people use cheats in their own games, as long as they don't bring it to my world.

I officially love you. Those analogies, damn. They make me laugh so hard on the inside that my ear infection beats to the rhythm of my heart. And I don't care how weird that sounds.
I myself don't find duping to be a bad thing. I just don't like it being done in my worlds. Unless I'm on my duping worlds, which are all separate from my real worlds.
Oh god another duping topic. You play your way and we play our way, no need to make a topic on how you play concidering that their are many other topics that say the same thing. And they all play out the same.

I like the carpenter and musician analogy.

I don't dupe by the way.
