So if I was to cover part of a desert in dirt and forest grass blocks and plant it full of trees I'd have what appears to be a forest biome that never rains.
So should we start making worlds like Gargamel saved as it might not exist in the next update? There won't be any generated structures, but I think the old seeds are worth it.
The only way to keep Gargamel is to completely explore the world when you make it. If you don't, any unexplored are will be 1.8 terrain, rendering the map pre 1.8 terrain and half post 1.8 terrain.

If you put grass and trees in a desert biome, they will be brown and look dead.
Which to me looks really bad because I enjoy the bright green color.

That makes me wish I didn't explore mine.

Some people want the old terrain to stay. They can have that by generating a bunch of maps now and completely exploring them. People who want the new terrain in their current worlds should leave some areas unexplored if they can.
I have no attachment to my worlds so I'm just going to starting a brand new one when 1.8 comes out.

As I am sort of attatched to my world, i'll be doing the same. It's not like we have to abandon our old worlds. And to the comment above this^ Sometimes when old terrain meets new terrain it makes the world look kinda weird. Sometimes there is huge shifts in land such as mountains being cut off, and stuff like that.

Your profile picture is amazing, I've been wanting to say that for a moment and I thought that when the update comes all the the stuff from the update will generate into the world you've had before the update.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility..... - Uncle Ben
with the point of cows/sheep/pigs/chickens not respawning ,,
with the hunger bar being introduced there are gonna be people who will just kill pigs for food or cows if theres steaks .. and then have nothing but wheat to to eat for their intire exsistance on that map...
They've avoided talking about breeding.

Thanks. And Nah, only the part of your world that you've not explored "The part of the map that is not loaded" will spawn stuff from 1.8. If you've been everywhere, then that wont work.

That's what I'm planning to do. I'll make 10 new worlds before 1.8 comes out. 5 of them will be some of the most popular seeds that look really amazing (Like glacier) and 5 that are just random seeds for the sake of not knowing what I'll find. I'll also keep my main world of course.

I'm pretty sure this isn't true. I believe that the whole world generates when you first load up the world which is different from the P.C version. No matter what you do, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to find mineshafts or ravines in your old world. I would look into this though since I admittedly don't have any source to share.
It's pretty random, but here's a picture (From the PC version). I've seen some reach to almost 128 blocks high. Sadly, there is a huge lack of mountains outside of this biome in 1.8. A lot of the biomes are flat, and you rarely get mountains compared to 1.7.

If the entire world generated at when you make it, I wouldn't have been able to find clay after the clay fix.
Before the clay fix, you could only find it where the X and Z coordinates were the same. After the clay fix, I started finding it all over the place. If the whole world generates when you start it, I shouldn't have been able to find clay outside of the matching X and Z coordinates. The update altered the unexplored areas of my map. So it doesn't generate all at once.
wow wow wow mineshaft doesnt look like it should be, normally theres fences on the mineshafts. wow thats not even a challenge to do.+ enderman doesnt only have purple eyes it has green and yellow eyes either.

Indeed.
(when Eggs come out)
You'll have to wait 1 update... or 2 maybe

Other than that everything else is a bonus.
