To quote what the wiki says about ocean biomes "Oceans typically extend under 25,000 blocks in any direction, reaching out to 100,000 in rare circumstances."
The worlds on the xbox 360 are 862x862 I think, which would mean an ocean could essentially cover a vast majority of your map except for a few small islands. On a world with the only purpose of doing a survival island type world, this would be fine, but for a normal survival world (And even more so for those of you who want to play in creative), this would really suck. Is anyone else worried about this?
Generate a new seed if you don't like it i guess? I dunno brother. I actually would be more upset if there weren't worlds almost completely water. With the VERY (IMO) limited space we're given, to experience anything like a water-world style setting, we would have to have a map almost completely covered in it.
Actually, if anybody has a seed like this I would love to know, I didn't see anything like this on the "best seeds list." I've been wanting to build a world with an underwater bubble-city and a docks style city. (think FF X where Yuna has that sending scene)
I've thought about it, and I think it would be great for people that want a Survival Island map. If you end up with one and don't want it, just generate a new world, that's the beauty of Minecraft. Or you could just find a seed to make sure you don't end up in an ocean biome.
I kinda got a excited about the possibilities. It might be slow going at first but would be a great opportunity for a lot of underwater buildings. You could probably just increase the size of the islands by harvesting dirt and other materials from underground and doing massive terraforming if you're really reluctant to change maps.

I am a Minecraft tourist. I am currently unavailable under the XBoxLIVE ID listed here but can be found under ZombieL0C0. If you see me online playing Minecraft, send a message and I will gladly take a stroll through your world.

well the closest seed that i found off the minecraft seed site that has quite a bit of water is
d74g0n
it has pretty much has all the resources as well including plenty clay. most of the water covers the center and North eastern parts of the map, as the western part is mostly snow and ice with some rolling hills.... monstrous mountain to the south but not really shear cliffside though. Also this seed is a 1.8 seed, I just went and checked out to see what it would look like in this version and well.. that is what i saw mainly.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
my friend talon would love this, hes the water guy in our group, everything water, has numerous underwater structures under his belt. and considering i was gonnna make a world like this i hope we can find one... it'll save me a lot of hastle. could be fun, as long as we get maps with good solid land masses as well, id hate to have to build on small broken up islands everytime.
