This update brought additional and changes to sounds within the /.minecraft/resources folder; the client was not updated.

Also, I was under the impression that jungle biomes were added along with vines in the 1.8 update? I can't find anything about jungle biomes and when they first appeared on the version history wiki.

no strongholds they were added in 1.9 no the end no enchanting no nether fortresses no brewing no jungles

Jungles are later but I believe vines are part of the swamp included in 1.8 ?
-I may be wrong, but I believe in this update animals also became persistent, but we didn't yet have farming. If 4J don't pull this forward, it basically means no killing animals or they will become (almost) extinct.

I think he's right. I believe they stop respawning. If we had animal breeding however,
that wouldn't happen.

If they don't pull breeding forward but make it so animals don't respawn that will be a disaster waiting to happen. Many times I have seen animals burn to death by getting close to fire, wolves chomping on sheep, animals falling off cliffs, animals not smart enough to stop walking into cacti, and so on. All of these have resulted into the animal dying. After 10 or so minecraft days all the animals would be dead unless you manage to pen them all up before all the above happens to them.

Jungles were in 1.2

as said Strongholds were added in 1.8, they just didnt have a particular use at that time.
