I've been working with redstone and pistons. I have created vertical jeb doors, regular jeb doors, elevators, escalators, and some other fun redstone.
Recently i've been working on something I believe no one else has done before, a self building house. Yeah yeah, you're probably gonna post. NU UH, LOOK AT THIS, DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST.
Well, this self building house is not like this:
This house, can DIS assemble it self. The only problem is the roof, which you will have to build yourself or I will soon improve the circuit so pistons are pushed to go grab it then bring it down.
I wanted to see if others have done this, just to be sure, I wanted a way to make this as compact as possible. But so far, the circuit is about 8 layers and 20x15 blocks.

Excellent idea snyder guy. I would love to see what you've come up with. I've built the self-erecting/repairing building, which i think is badass, but you're idea takes it a step further.

I asked BaronxOfxDeath (if you know him, he's an insane redstoner, i play with him a lot) and he simply said he doesn't work with pistons anymore. Plus he doesn't have gold.
I just got home (ik I wasn't there long) and I tested my circuit again, whole thing is screwed up... :/ It builds it self, but a torch must be burned out or something because it doesn't wanna get rid of itself. Meh..... I will re create the circuit, hack my account back, and try to get some screens.

I've done self building walls and self building floors before, but curiously enough, never at the same time. I'll check out the video you posted and see if it's similar.

Watched the video. Mine was a cobble generator hooked up to pistons. It could generate something like a 11x12 wall or floor of cobble, and if a creeper blasted a hole in the wall it would self repair.
Yeah, but self repairs have crappy designs and really aren't that useful, you have to reset the clock each time

I mainly use them for large cobble floors. You can get a bunch going at once and cover a huge area for a grinder floor in no time versus actually mining all that cobble.

Yeah, I only use pistons to make my designs faster, no piston contraptions. I'm exclusively building logic-based data processing machines now.
I just scoured the internets trying to find a self-building/unbuilding house, but I think you're right. This could be the first one documented if you can pull it off. The walls would be easy enough, just a lot of ABBA switches. I recommend using a sand lift for the roof, I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to fit it in any other way. You may have to go with a sand floor as well, or this thing will become reeeaaaally complicated.
I do use a sand lift actually, like in the video, to get the shape of the door I use sand instead of fences like he has (for idk what reason) but I still can't find out why the contraption doesn't wanna work anymore. It sorta worked before, and the redstone where the un building part is, is.. well... Locked up to a point where I can't get to it, I will have to rebuild it on another world. I'll do that this weekend when I actually have time

I would definitely build it above ground to begin with, if you haven't already. Then, if you decide to show it off in a video or something, build a grass platform around it.

OP: I just realized something, and now I feel completely retarded. This is a lot more complicated than I thought. You can't simply use a sand lift, you'll need some way to take the roof down. I don't see this being possible, at all, without some exposed redstone, and even then, extremely difficult.

Thats what I was talking about at the building. You have to build your own roof, The only thing I need sand for is to make the door. Windows aren't possible either
