This is great news, I hope this is a sign of more flexible server permissions to come! I'd think it'd be neat to restrict players from using specific items, like flint & steel and lava buckets. It'd also be handy to create challenge maps, if you can restrict players from breaking blocks.
I don't play multiplayer on the 360 but if I did, I personally wouldn't want to turn pvp off. I mean, if someone decides to grief you, you have no way to stop him/her.

Idiot, you can kick them. Which is what you should do first anyway, killing them is moot and stupid.

I stop griefers by playing it smart with saves, but this is a nice way to stop one annoyance. It's going to be nice to be able to work without checking to make sure nobody is coming at you with a sword!
