/sigh. So today i lost the world i've been working on for about 3 months. Supisingly though, i don't even care that much, let me explain. so i switched minecraft (and my game saves) over to a new hard drive today, i turned off my xbox, then later i turned it back on, and the new hard drive had been corrupted, getting minecraft itself wasn't a big deal, i just had to go to download history and redownload it, but my world however, was lost forever. i plan to just not play minecraft untill the 1.8.2 update comes out, which will be some time this month so hopefully i don't have to wait long. so my message to everybody is back up your worlds every time you make signification progress on it.
How to Back Up: go to the settings tab from the main hub of the dashboard, click "system," then "storage." Next go to the hard drive that has you minecraft save on it, click "Games and Apps." find "minecraft" and click it, then open "Minecraft Save Info," click "copy" and select a separate save device than the one that minecraft is currently on.
edit: oops, i made a mistake. instead of copying "Minecraft save info" you must copy "saved game." sorry if i mislead anyone.
I save like normal, save to the cloud and then I also save to a 32gb flash drive I have for college. Call me paranoid but you are not alone, I have lost 2 worlds already.
I have a 4 gig "arcade" xbox that I put a 250 gig HDD in. I backup my save to the 4 gig partition, the cloud and have the copy I use on the HDD. I do it weekly but really dont have all that much time to play.

No. Minecraft Save Info is just your stats and settings. You have to copy the worlds themselves, you actually don't need the save info file at all unless you care about ranking and stuff like that. You could even delete the file and load all of your worlds just fine. Next time you play, when you see the little chest in the corner of the screen, it creates another save info file.
I would also recommend keeping a back up of your worlds on your PC if you have one. There are many USB extraction programs around, like USB Xplorer you can use to keep the file on your computer's hard drive. This isn't modding, you aren't altering the file in any way, you just need an extractor because your computer's OS most likely can't read the folder the file is being kept in, I know for a fact Windows and Linux distros can't.
I just recommend this because I've had my profile corrupted while moving it with a flash drive. And that profile didn't have Live, so that was probably 6000 GS and 40 - 50 gamesaves down the drain. Not fun... I've also had an entire flash drive corrupt, that was even worse. Years of music, programs, a resume, and even porn, all gone.
