I've put alot of time into my current Xbox 360 minecraft world and some of the changes in the upcoming update has me a little discouraged. I want to take full advatage of the Abandoned Mine Shafts , Strongholds and NPC villages. And i dont want to make a new world to do so. So: (this may be a dumb question but)
1. Will Abandoned Mine Shafts, NPC Villiges, and Strongholds spawn in a seed that was made before the update?
I believe there is no chance of the new things spawning on existing maps even if unexplored. Those things are created when the map is first created. The hope was created back when the clay patch was issued and 4J said there was a chance of it spawning in unexplored areas.

It's the same as the PC.
If you have a pre 1.8 world with unexplored areas, after the 1.8 update, those unexplored areas will start spawning the new 1.8 terrain. Depending on the size of the areas and the general chance/distribution of the terrain features, things like Strongholds, Ravines, NPC Villages, and Mineshafts have a chance of spawning.
The Clay fix was the same thing. They altered the terrain generation with it. I had a world with unexplored areas and when I went to those areas, clay started spawning in its regular non buggy amount in the unexplored areas.
so just wondering, if u r preparing for the next update by building a village and geting it all correct with the "village" codes, and then they do the update, i wonder if those codes will recognize it as a villlage and it will in turn be made into a village
I think I'm gonna run all over my world and explore as much as I can and hope for the best, I likey world... MAke a New World when the updates come online! That's cool... Change my current world... Not Cool....... :^(
I also read multiple post's saying that Villagers are not going to be in the next update, BUT villages are... That is kind of stupid to add villages with no villagers if you ask me.

It was the same way on the PC version. Why should the Xbox version be any different?

Actually, the Xbox 360 Edition is a little different. Both versions get villages without villagers, but the PC version got an XP bar without enchanting whereas the Xbox 360 Edition will get neither an XP bar nor enchanting.
I don't think the Xbox 360 Edition should be any different, but it is. Plus 4J said they were looking into bringing other features into the 1.8.2 update, which isn't bad. It's still different though.

That's what I first thought. However, apparently the entire terrain is not created when the world is created. The system generates the actual blocks "as needed" when the person "explores" the area for the first time by going back to the algorithm. If there has been no update between the time the world was created and when that area of the world is first explored, then the system is going back to same algorithm so there is no apparent difference (that is, the same seed will generate the same terrain each time). However, if a terrain generation update falls in between those two events, the system will apply the new algorithms when rendering that area and it will receive whatever terrain it would have if that seed were used to create the world post-update. A world created prior to the update and then partially rendered after it will be a mash up of the two. There is no guarantee that the system will place a specific new feature in the unexplored area. It might just become oak forest or water.
I am in the process of testing this out. I have currently 3 copies of two different seeds saved: 1 unexplored, 1 all explored, 1 partially explored. When exploring, I did no mining of any blocks whatsoever; just walked through the area holding my map. I plan also to use the same seed threads to create 2 more new worlds after the update takes effect. Then, I'll explored all of them and see where the terrain matches and where it doesn't among each set of the files with the same seed strings. This should settle the question; but unfortunately no in time to give people guidance on what they should be doing.
What I have personally done is intentionally explored my entire current world to prevent mish-mashed terrain from suddenly appearing. I'd rather do without a stronghold than have 1/2 a stronghold appear on some random chunk.
ETA: What changed my thinking on world generation? The saved file sizes for the the completely unexplored world files are between 4 MB and 6 MB each, but the fully explored files climb immediately to 16 or 17 MB each. This is without mining or moving any blocks. My current world file, fully explored for some time now, no duping, and not many materials in chests is STILL hovering around 17 MB - EVEN with all the building changes I've made. I do have only a small amount of redstone in use, but I have reason to believe that it does tend to increase the saved file size significantly.

Except 4J has stated that they won't be adding spawn eggs in the next update.
