it rains so much on my world its crazy. i hope in the future updates you put a setting to turn it on or off. cause in my world i have so much built that sometimes its lags when it rains cause the server cant handle it. its just a suggestion. but a good one lol and i think a lot of people will agree with me.
It does seem to rain an awful lot in earlier versions of Minecraft. On the PC version I have seen it rain twice in a week (that's god knows how many minecraft days) whereas it rains probably once every two hours on the Xbox version.
It's the same thing with PC.You probably don't see rain often on PC because you don't play 2 hours at a time.
yeah, i agree but i think it's gonna be in creative mode.
If they do put in weather control, I think it should be in creative mode only. I find it a little ironic if the survivalists weren't prepared to survive a little fake rain from time to time. Rain lowers the light level in the world during the day and alllows some of the monsters to survive lduring the daytime.
I think it rains on a pretty regular schedule in all worlds. I haven't noticed any world I have being really any different from any other one I have. It might rain less or not rain in deserts biome, but I haven't spent much time in them so I'm not sure about this.
This is exactly the reason why I'm attempting to block off the rain.
Any resources you have a large amount of can be used as some sort of shelter over your base, glass seems to be the best because it is still possible to see the sky and it still lets light in.
You can also build on desert biomes, if you have them and they're big enough for what you're doing. Extending the sand out doesn't help. (Tried it.) It prevents farm animals spawning, but not the rain.
Sleeping will stop the rain in the morning (if you didn't know that already). I've run into a bug where rain never stops if it's raining when I return from spending a long while in the nether. That has happened to me 3 times now. Sleeping does nothing. It just rains forever. The only cure is saving, quitting and restarting.
I got trapped in my house once when it was raining because my house was surrounded by skeletons that wouldnt die during the day because of the rain O.o
As rain serves a purpose, and is not just for show, i must disagree.
There is a functionality associated with rain as it affects how some aspects of the game works. It kind of like saying they should have an option to make it day all the time.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
Quite aware of that, but seeing as you'll be able to turn off clouds I'm guessing that they will eventually add additional weather options.
I don't think that is necessarily likely. Clouds don't affect the monsters, but the rain does (allowing the skeles and zombies to survive daylight). It's part of the challenge of playing the game in a survival mode (other than Peaceful).
Honestly, I love rain. I also really like thunderstorms. Rain just, for me adds more to the game to get me immersed. It adds more to the games environment. I love watching thunderstorms, seeing lightning almost strike you or even seeing it off in the distance then hearing the crackle is so relaxing for some reason, and it really interests me....

Yeah its ok when ur not really building in it then its annoying but when your just looking at the rain its nice more so with the pandora station for minecraft lol
I'd rather be able to turn off the rain sounds without turning all the sounds off.
The sound of the rain also serves as purpose in that can also mask the sound of a monster approaching. It's job is to make the game just a little tiny bit more difficult to play during the storms, kind of a semi-level up.
what are your thought on this?

...I would imagine you'll be able to disable weather features in 1.8
Just so everyone knows, rain and snow can be cancelled by sleeping in a bed at night. When you wake up the next day, the weather will stop.
I don't think that is necessarily likely. Clouds don't affect the monsters, but the rain does (allowing the skeles and zombies to survive daylight). It's part of the challenge of playing the game in a survival mode (other than Peaceful).

IT will not! sometimes it rains about 7 minecraft days and sometimes it rains at day

Sleeping in a bed always turns rain off when i wake up
