People have asked for it before, the reason they never implemented it in the first place was cause it would be too tedious to do with the controller. They said it wont be changing and I doubt they would add it in as an option
I've played TotalMiner, I KNOW it's tedious with a controller. The only benefit I could see for keyboard/mouse controls would be the aiming with the mouse and navigating menus with the mouse. But keyboard controls for any game are completely horrendous to use. Keys aren't pressure sensitive and you can only move in 8 directions. With a joystick you can move at any speed, at any angle, jumping around is a whole lot easier, as you can move at half speed, instead of short bursts of full speed.
I don't know why it would be slower to position a cursor on the XBox controller than it would be on a PC? It's just whatever you're most practiced with. I've watched my friend's kids clear and sort a full inventory into a chest in a split second. They are just that practiced with their controllers now. I know I can't do it that fast, but it's not the controller being slow, it's the operator; and, even though I am far more familiar with a computer mouse, I really don't think I'm that much faster positioning the cursor with one.
I've played the PC version with a controller and I always switch the a mouse when I sort stuff because it is just too slow and imprecise compared to a mouse.
I love using the controller, I would use it on my pc if I could. I do like the crafting on pc too, though at the same time its nice not having to move around multiple items just to make one little thing like a repeater. I think the xbox inventory could have been made to feel a bit more comfortable, but oh well. If you think the analog isnt good enough, use the d-pad.
You can use XPadder to use a controller with Minecraft on the PC. The only thing is that there is no way to differentiate whether you are using an item with right click or entering a menu such as with a chest or furnace. Because of that, you can't have the controls change automatically for those menus like they do in the 360 version. That's why I always map the select button to switch the controls if I need too. I still usually just use a mouse in the menus anyway though.
i agree that i should get a new pc but all my friends plus hosting a game is easier also i perfer mouses because lets say a creepers behind you with a controller at 200% sesitivity it takes to long to turn around and by the time you do your died the option for keyboard and mouse is avaliable for counter strike go on ps3 so i know that they could do it the crafting is something that i dont really cara about but wouls like it for more of a fun way to craft i think it is lazyish how it is now and no fun what do you think and rememberthis could be optinal not everyone had to use im not saying stop the 1.8 update just for this but eventanully put it in the game i know somr people would use
If you're used to the PC version, then go get yourself a new computer and play Minecraft. The keyboard functionality is already a nice touch up, but adding a mouse? This is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Live Arcade Edition, not Minecraft: Let's Play More PC on Xbox 360 Edition. I understand you're not used to the feel of not having recipes already done for you so crafting is easier, but learn to suck it up honestly.
This is Minecraft's own edition for Xbox, so let's leave it that way. Adding a mouse just everything seem...PC-ish.
how would keyboard and mouse play even work for the xbox becuase the xbox does not even have a mouse and the keyboard is only a small chat pad.
well lets see... hmm keyboards usually have something called a USB plug.. mouses usually have the same thing... the front of xbox have something called USB Ports and you can actually hook a keyboard up to your xbox and type msgs with it. idk if you can use the mouse BUT it can stil hook up to your xbox
Buy a new computer and continue playing PC, theres a reason why its like that on Xbox, because its not a computer if i want to play with a keyboard and mouse id play the PC version.
My laptop broke, so I will have to wait until tax time to get a new computer. =P
Every PC gamer wants a mouse so there is a platform where you can use a mouse, every console gamer wants a controller so there is a platform where tou can use a controller.
Stop whining and just play the game.
I'm not every PC/Console gamer. Actually for the PC I'd rather use a controller. Can you even comprehend that? I think not. XD

For me it's a double edged sword. Movement for me is easier and much more enjoyable on the controller, so I can play the Xbox version for hours upon hours and not even notice it. Crafting on the other hand is better on the mouse and keyboard; I've gotten used to it on PC in simply a week and can fly around my inventory moving things, crafting and organising very quickly.
What I will say is even despite being on a controller the crafting interface is really well set up on the Xbox version.
Try playing Quake III (or any other fast game) on a controller and you'd see. A controller is not as easy to finely control as a mouse but both have their places.
I can agree that turning around with the controller can seem a little sluggish (compared to some other XBox games). Perhaps this will improve a little when sprinting comes in... or perhaps that is one area of the control interface 4J can improve.
The rest, however, is still amounts to poisoning one's own enjoyment of a game by continually comparing to the same games on PC. The games on the two different devices are intended to attract slightly different markets. I seen the XBox edition of Minecraft as being more friendly for younger children, who don't want to be memorizing crafting recipes and typing text while playing a game. This enables them to learn the game faster. For example, the only thing my friend's kids use signs for are the sides of their chairs. They like that the ingredients for a tool can be anywhere in their inventory to craft the item. They are far more precise with the controller than I am and they are also still far more precise with the controller than they are with a mouse.
I still say that IF what you really want is to play the PC version, do yourself a favor and play it on the PC. You'll enjoy it more. (... and there will be less incessant comparing/complaining going on here). If you want to play the XBox version, enjoy it as an XBox game. I do. As I said before, I'm not adverse to there being a keyboard/mouse option; but I don't think adding it will make the game get any closer to satisfying those who seem to want exactly the PC version and nothing else.

It would be an option though. Meaning, you don't have to use the keyboard and mouse; it would just make it possible for those that prefer keyboard and mouse to use it. If this were added, it wouldn't hurt anybody at all.
No offense, but do you seriously want to make Minecraft xbox 360 edition into MInecraft? (pc version) I mean, 4j Studios said that they will make it like Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition, and that they will not make like a mirror reflection of Minecraft on the pc.
Nooo you do dont understand what I am saying they shouls add this as a option little kids do probably lke the easy interface they should add this as a OPTION and not all games with mouse and keyboard suck and stop saying if you want a pc fell gt a new pc my friends play xbox nt pc which is easier so jst add it as a diffrent type of gameplay mechanic also maybe in the future they make it were the sensitivity is higher like between 300%-400% this is a real idea not a stupid joke people
I don't see why traditional crafting couldn't be an option (although I've also never heard of the Xbox supporting a mouse), but I do prefer the current system. It's less "it's easy" and more "Gee, I sure do like playing this game and not stopping to read a whole wikipedia to figure out what my options are for crafting and how to do those things. and then pausing to come back to the wiki every time I need to remember a recipe until I have it locked in memory."
Let me start off by saying your all stupid. If you want to use a keyboard and Mouse play on the computer. Also I like the idea of having crafting that lets you place the blocks onion the boxes to craft
Mouse and Keyboard, PC Crafting.... Just play the PC version?! The reason people enjoy the xbox version is because instead of lounging over a desk playing you can sit back on a couch and just play. Why ask for keyboard and mouse and PC crafting when the PC version already exists?
