If you don't want to mod, use a block transmuter. You can't create cactus with it, but you can make green wool blocks. I'm assuming that's the only reason you want cacti.
Built it. Made the first 2 sticky pistons face "f:3" (East, according to the wiki) per instructions. Does not work for me. Several pistons fire when I plant the torch, but never the bottom one, and no new blocks get generated. The water just washes the torch back to me after the piston show.
me ether. im wondering if you need blocks with multiple textures. cuase it seems this is forcing them to retexture. this will happen in your inventory when you are duping certain items, wood or wool especially. so cobble stone might not work cuase theres no other texture. and since we dont have the alt textures for sandstone or stone yet im going to try wool to see if it works.
Hmm. I had not considered that. But my problem seems to be mechanical. Looking at the thing carefully, I don't understand how that bottom piston would ever fire. 2 sticky pistons push 2 blocks past the place where you stand, on both sides of you. The block on the left passes the power from the torch on the floor to the redstone dust under you, but the 2nd block, er, blocks the current from going down to the piston across the floor on the other side. If I eliminate that block, the bottom piston fires, but I still get no transmutation, or blocks moving down the long lines, for that matter.
the bottom piston should move, it should get power through the block you plase the torch on and since it has no repeaters it shouldnt be hindered. now assuming you want it to cylce the blocks. i removed the top repeater and set the mid repeater(on the left most piston) to full delay and it fully cycles blocks... kind of. since there are 12 block in the row. it dosnt actually move them. guess thats part of how it glitches? no clue. i may remove some of the blocks and shorten the output side to see if getting it to fully cycle will help but that will have to wait no time for R&D tonight got work in the am. if you figure anything out cobra give me a heads up.
