Once we have Creative Mode, you can do it. Except that water cannot be placed in the Nether at all, even with ice. Not until 1.2.5 on the PC anyways. Since we aren't getting 1.2.5 apparently, looks like no water in the Nether.

infact the wiki still states it cant turn in to water, but I am suue I have seen it.
My only gripe about 1.8 so soon is i dont think I will have finished my ice statue by then, so everyone will assume its ade with creative *sigh*

As mustache guy had stated, you can place water/ice in the nether in 1.2.5 (pretty sure only in creative cause they changed silk touch to not get ice then?) But our following update after 1.8 is 1.2.3 and I dont know where we're going from that.

If you don't go into creative in that world, the leaderboard will save and show your friends that it wasn't made in creative.
Saving in a world will make the leaderboard save too. 4J made it so that any world that you go into with creative has achievements and the leaderboard locked, even if you leave and come back with survival.
If someone used creative to build something and say they did it in survival, all you have to do is ask them to save. If the chest icon doesn't appear in the top-right corner after they save, they are most likely lying.
