They are most likely releasing it to Microsoft for cert testing this week. Which should take about 2 weeks to complete and as long as nothing is wrong will have it last week of Sept.
4J have officially stated that they are definately bringing in some features from 1.9 and beyond. The only ones that I know of is Breeding, Enchantments and Superflat.
They arent bringing enchanting, and they havent officially said they were bringing breeding forward
SWEET!!! I hope Microsoft puts the 1.8 update at the top of their list for certification. With creative I can make an inpenatrable castle with a small village inside the walls! I will also find a stronghold in survival and excavate it.
I'm happy that update is coming out shortly but I'm not really in super-happy-get-boner mode over it.
It just seems as though all that's really going to be added are new materials to build with (new blocks) and a new way of building (creative mode). Only now you'll get hungry while you're building (food bar). Of course we'll get new structures (already built). Oh and let's not forget Enderman who'll steal the blocks you're building with.
Of course, they mentioned that they're bringing Superflat forward. That's a great open space to build on.
Once the official patch list comes out, I'll probably get more excited.
Great news! I kinda thought it would come in September all along, but with everyone saying October it's nice to have confirmation.
Earlier I guessed September 16th. I would change it to a later date, but I'm gonna stay optimistic and keep my guess at the 16th.
I highly doubt they would release it on Sunday the 16th. My guess for months now was always, September 14th for 1.8 and December 7th for 1.2. But now I am leaning toward September 28th for 1.8 and Christmas-ish for 1.2.

The update is probably being tested this week or next week. So I expect it to be in the second half of the month, most likely around the 25th IMO.
