"It's much easier to do video capture on the PC than it is on the Xbox, so it is something we're looking at," Burns said. "I would love to be able to put videos up on YouTube directly from the Xbox. It's not quite there yet, but I know that at some point in the future it will be. So we're trying to help Microsoft to work towards that, because I would definitely like people to be able to do that in the Xbox game. I think it would be brilliant.”
I both hate and love this idea. I love it because I wouldn't have to pay good money for a capture card. I hate it because there would be a million "Let's Play" series starting up, obscuring the good channels. Also there world be more redstone tutorials (as if there aren't enough already) overshadowing geniuses in the world of circuitry. Yeah... I think I would rather pay for a capture card if it meant avoiding that catastrophe.
Reading this makes me excited for this game again. I can't wait to see what type of competitive mods get put in the game. My vote is for capture for the flag or something along those lines.
1- This interview, posted 8/5/12, confirmed what I've been saying all along- though some of you thought I was an idiot. That 4J will bring it up to the PC version when the xbox was released, 1.2.3, "and then break away in a entirely different direction". At some point the xbox just can't do all the things the PC can, and vice versa(!)- that each will take advantage of their respective platform's strengths and weaknesses. So pretty soon the xbox will be it's own "version" (vision) of MC and all these "It should be just like the PC!" threads will be pointless.
2- Another conformation of what I've been saying all along is about mods. All those PC mods, as you know them, ain't happening. 4J might write their own, but not anytime in the near future. "The mods that are being done on the PC, obviously we can't just take those, but we are having a look at what people are enjoying and thinking could we do content that would pick up on the key things that people are enjoying in mods, and add them to the [console] game. At the moment that is what I would call the long-term view." (And, come on, you know they won't be free).
3- I'm with Nose_Job- I really hope they don't let videos be made directly on the xbox. If I see one more "Let's Play" video with it's goofy intro, loud metal music (why do they think all viewers would be impressed with that music?), voiced with some tinny 10 year old's voice, that ALWAYS starts out with, "YO! Watzup everyone, _______ here".... I'm gonna throw up. They'll be thousands of videos made by kids that think theirs is somehow better than the 400 million already out there.
4- A "more competitive" MC sounds good, doesn't it? But 4J's CEO said "What I'm hearing a lot of with the Xbox game is the family playing with the kids and the parents together". To me that does not sound like the hard-core PvP competition that some of you love, but more like the Mario Kart level of competition that parents can get into also. Don't know- we'll just have to wait and see, huh?

You're kinda trolling, isn't it? why aren't you happy about the video recording, huh??
"We'd like to do things that could be played together in a slightly more competitive way than just building in Minecraft. If you have just a quick loop through the top mods, there are a lot of mods that are slightly more competitive that people are really enjoying. It's the element of those that I would like to pick up on and build on the Xbox."
The impression I get from reading that interview is that the mods they are talking about are just going to be different competitive game modes, like the CTF mode they are adding, maybe maps based off popular games like plants vs zombies and stuff. I honestly think people expecting things like tekkit to be added to the game are being a little overoptimistic.
I do like the idea of recording straight from the xbox though, although this is going to create a HUGE amount of junk on youtube, everybody playing XBLA is going to think they are the next big youtube star all of a sudden.
Yeah you're right, but let's try not to look at the negativity.

He explained why he wasn't happy about it, and it's a good reason. It wouldn't bother me if the videos had a host other than YouTube. Which, hey you never know, that could happen, they could still make money off of ads. I just think it's the worst idea ever to allow people to record and upload videos to YT that easily and pain free. That site is already swarmed with MC videos so bad, they could turn it into its own category. I don't think it's fair to the good Minecraft channels that are original and show things besides themselves just playing survival mode. Or the channels that use MC as an educational tool. Think about how people's 20 meter tall statues of Steves and such could pop up on the search before a 60x40x140 statue of a flying dragon that someone spent near 100 hours on. Who knows, there are probably quite a few people on YouTube trying to get sponsored because they're disabled and can't work. I know, that's not the majority, and most people are just trying to get sponsored because they're lazy, but still, it's a possibility.
IMO, these 10 year old kids will stop whining when they see what 4J brings to the table.
People are gonna stop stomping on MC360 and start buying it for themselves.
I want 4J to make small, yet extremely beneficial and unique changes.
Everybody wants them to go the route of the PC, only because they are afraid 4J will mess
something up, or change something drastic. I say we wait and see what comes. They said
they wanted to take away things people don't like about the PC, so I trust that they know
what fans want and don't want.
I have a feeling what 4J does will make Minecraft 10X better.
I bet they do the bigger maps only with the new Xbox as the memory contraints will not be as bad. Still, I'm liking that they still seem very dedicated to continuely improving the Xbox version.
Nowhere in that interview did I see a mention of the redstone/piston bugs. My fear is that this "big picture" will overshadow the little, but important things that need to be done. I'd much rather see updates that catch up to the PC version more slowly than they intend, but fix the issues that are currently plaguing the game.
They talked about making worlds bigger, video recording, and Mods!!
