If you don't want to mod, use a block transmuter. You can't create cactus with it, but you can make green wool blocks. I'm assuming that's the only reason you want cacti.
Green dye is not the only appeal. Cactus farms are fun because they can harvest themselves. No fancy mechanisms required. Cactus can't grow next to another block, but it will try to. So if you place a block adjacent to the spot right above your 1-block-high planted cactus, when it grows, the top block will fly off as a resource. Use water creatively to carry the resources to a collecting point, and you've got an automated farm.
Thanks for the transmuter video. That's something I may want to try.
I too was gonna suggest a block transmuter.. Be careful though. You could mod too (that may get you banned from live though) Best bet is to wait until creative is here......
we have no idea if we will be able to switch from creative to survival in the update.
4J confirmed this recently. Yes, you will be able to switch back to survival from creative by exiting and reloading the world in one of the survival modes. You will also be able to switch from survival to creative the same way. They have also said that if you do load a world in creative mode, from that point forward, any subsequently play in that world, whether done in creative or survival modes, will not be included in the leaderboards. There was a thread running yesterday discussing this.

TARDIS& Bowie Base 2 (based on the Waters of Mars)Leaves can solve a lot of "green" issues until we have creative mode (then you can just drop one in and return to normal play).
How can he make a cactus farm if he has no cacti (I think that's how you spell it)?

Retired StaffYou know... I'm honestly not sure. It's based off of some sort of glitch, I'm not even going to try to figure out why it works.
