@4JStudios can you load your existing world into creative mode?
@john_1881 Yes, but Achievements and Leaderboard updates will be disabled for that world.
Then, there is also this....
@4JStudios If you set the game to survival then are achievements and leaderboard updates re-enabled?
@SGFRooty No, they will always be disabled for a world that's been saved while in Creative Mode.
So, if you make a Creative Mode or Survival world, then save it while on Creative, that world will no longer be capable of getting achievements or adding to the leaderboard. I think it's great of them to add these things so people can't abuse Creative to boost the leaderboard or their achievements.
(Sorry if anyone has mentioned this already. I looked and could only see threads about how long the update is taking and it's apparent lack of XP and Enchanting)
I am perfectly fine with that. I don't care about leaderboards, and I have all the achievements already. I can see why they don't reactivate them also, as you can just give yourself everything you need (such as rails) to boost your leaderboard rank and/or get achievements.
Yeah true. Kinda annoying about the leaderboards but the acheivments are all rediculously easy anyway. Can't wait for creative mode. Do you think your leaderboard stats will go down after saving creative onto a map. Like remove the stats from that map. Because I lots lots of ranks when I deleted a few maps.
I'm pretty sure anything you've done on a Survival map before you make it Creative will still count after it becomes Creative. It's just that from then on, you can't earn anything for the leaderboard.
but with the caps on the numbers there are its not exactly needed anyway is it.
My friends and I have been playing since the release and are nowhere near the number cap. Even though we don't care for the leaderboard, those that do shouldn't be excluded just because others think the leaderboards are unnecessary, pointless, or stupid.

Like you cant already boost the leaderboards in minecraft without creative mode, have you seen them. I think the better idea would be to remove the leaderboards entirely. Leaderboards promote competition something minecraft isnt really about. And competition causes some to cheat to be on top thus breaking the original purpose for leaderboards.
I will be switching to creative on my world, but I usually play with other people so often that my Peaceful stats for traveling is below 800 so I don't think it matters for me, unless my friends switch to creative. I actually do think it's stupid though that when you play survival on your creative world stats won't turn back on.

Yes, you can boost them now. No need to make it easier. As for leaderboards promoting competition, you can't really say that isn't what Minecraft is about. Maybe it isn't for you, but not everyone plays the game like you. It is a sandbox game, if you want to turn things into a competition, you can.

You do understand why they don't turn in back on, right? It would make getting the items for achievements and boosting leaderboard stats way too easy. Want the pig achievement? give yourself 10 saddles just in case. Want the rail achievement? Give yourself 500 rails. Want the wolves achievement? Give yourself spawn eggs(though they won't be in the next update, but the point still stands).
Now I could understand it if someone(like me) only uses creative mode to add things their world didn't spawn with(like adding 1 melon seed). Maybe leaderboards shouldn't be locked because of something like that. But I am not going to complain, because as I said earlier, leaderboards don't matter to me.

WOW REALLY??
HAHA That's Amazing!!! Thanks a lot 4J, thank you!!
God, I think that's the best news I've heard from Minecraft in a long time.
That will certainly stop people from building everything they want and telling others they did it "legit". Their leaderboards won't count so that's proof enough
I don't think I've played any online game where the leaderboards weren't glitched or boosted in some way so this news doesn't really amount to a hill of beans. Nice effort on 4J's part though. Should keep the "legit" players from complaining too much over Creative mode.

WOW!!! This is great news. Now I don't care about the switching between Creative/Survival button anymore. I was against it solely for that reason and now I'm fine w/it. Thanks MustacheGuy! it's good to see you posting topics. We don't get to see that too much from you anymore. Glad to see this thread and thanks for the info

I have to disagree. That wouldn't be fair to the people who like the leaderboards like me and there is competition in almost every game even in MC so why wouldn't there be leaderboards. I know the leaderboards are full of cheaters but still it's nice to see where your at and where you rank among friends and everyone else playing MC. Now if they could only reset them when 1.8 comes out and make sure that people couldn't cheat their way to the top then that'd be great but as far as removing them completely?? That won't happen and to me that's a good thing
