Well after playing Minecraft on PC and watching youtube vids quite often,
I've noticed that the PC version looks a lot more colorful I guess, I'm not
sure. It seems that 360 Minecraft looks a little more bland than PC.

However I don't remember an update making it this way.
Anybody else notice this? And if somebody knows, why does
it look that way?

Could be that the lighting behavior changes gradually over the progression of the game. I know they made one lighting update in the XBox version and the difference was VERY noticeable.

Also, the PC players could be running texture packs, which apply a completely different texture to everything in the game.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Looks really nice on the PC. The default texture I mean. Not fond of any fan made texture packs I've seen so far..

You seriously think I'm complaining? I love MC360, and prefer it over
the PC. I didn't know there were numerous lighting fixes over the years, so I
simply asked a question.And if anything is pointless, It's what your basing argument on.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Only YOU care about what you build in your world even if you're in a server. You are not what you build, you're not any better of a person because you've build a castle, or a mansion or whatever else you've built. You don't win or lose anything. You're still you.

Considering that I have rarely ever seen the default textures on anything from the PC version are you sure you arent seeing a texture pack in the first place ? LOL

The lighting seems to be higher at the default and maximum brightness in the PC Edition.

I have noticed that the tiling of the textures is a lot more apparent when you look out over a vista on the Xbox version. More than anything, I think that it's just the way the console renders the engine as opposed to how a PC with Java does. So yeah, no reason apart from that they are different versions.
I hope this answers your question better than half the pointless side-discussions and thinly veiled insults that we've gotten beforehand. x)

After 1.2. (I think) the textures were buffed up.

there is a setting to change your "gamma" a.k.a brightness i know i changed it to different settings and it looked more like the pc version which was probably about half way and at high it is very bright...that is all......

I don't think he/they/she said you were complaining. All that person said was stop comparing not complaining. Just want to make sure that is what you saw. Just trying to calm these forums down a little since everybody is so uptight today.

Funny, I always that the Xbox version was bursting in color with vivid graphics when compared to the PC version. Of course, I had to dumb down the graphics to maintain a decent framerate. I'll take playing the Xbox with its 60 fps and it's "fancy/short" graphics setting over the PC with its "fast/normal" and 30 fps if I'm lucky.

Well thanks I guess.

And this topic isn't pointless, I didn't know there were more lighting updates.
Now that I know (thanks to everybody who posted) there's more of these
updates, I can stop wondering. I went through some confusion and got a little
jealous of the PC version because of this, but now that I know MC360 will
look like this, I feel better about it.

i dont know? but minecraft look nice on my sony tv compare to my westinghouse tv.

The PC version definitely has brighter, updated textures when put side-by-side with the Xbox 360 Edition (which I do on a regular basis.)

This can be rectified though by changing your T.V. settings.

I actually assumed it was due to the fact the game is being played on tv's with larger screens than the average PC. I mean, when you condense those textures into a smaller frame, it would stand to reason they'd look more even and flush. My tv is 46 inches...which means I can see each and every pixel used to make the textures if I wanted to. My laptop, by comparison, is more like 19 inches. Even the poorest among us probably has a 30 + inch screen....so you're talking about a massive difference in how those images are painted across the screen.
