4J has said they will look into Texture Packs after the 1.8.2 update, and our "mods" will be official DLC made by 4J. Like how Shivering Ilse and Dawnguard were "mods" for Elder Scrolls games.
I've seen some people say that Mojang will select User Created Content (e.g better than wolves, etc) and microsoft will select User Created Content from the selected Content and they will be put into downloadable packs

Just people spreading rumors.
If Mojang, 4J, or Microsoft haven't said it themselves, then it's not true.

They may do somthing like this except they would use some features of the Content and discard less appealing features as this would be sensible to use only the best of the best
Because its not part of the Minecraft deal...This means 4J studios have to put double the work into making these mods and texture packs. They don't have to do this,as long as MCXB gets updated to 1.2.5 their job is done...
It's not double the work if they're still getting paid, their job is to do what the boss says. If they weren't working on Minecraft, they would be working on a different game. I don't see that happening for awhile, as they are going to milk Minecraft as hard as they can for as long as they can. I'm sure Microsoft would prefer it that way too, DLC for MC will probably sell more than most blockbusters. Especially if it's something similar to Tekkit.

As if it's worth anything, that's what I'm thinking. They got 1.6 at signing to have something to work on and get out, and they're obligated to bring it up to the whatever the PC version was (1.2) when the xbox one was released. That does not mean they won't stop working to improve and update it (their contract doesn't stop, per se) but it may mean that from 1.2 on the xbox version can "go it's own way"- get it's own "exclusive content" (skins, texture packs, DLC, etc.) and not have to be tied to the PC version anymore.
Heck, for all we know a year from now the PC fanboys will be jealous cause the xbox one has so many cool features that they don't!
But we don't know anything for sure. I (and you) are just speculating and guessing.
While that's fun, it is kinda pointless.
If 4J do eventually release User Created Content or Texture Packs they may be similar to some mod but will be it's own program. 4J will most likely release texture packs and the likes after 1.2 but may release some sort of DLC after 1.8.2

Retired StaffWhy are we lucky? Microsoft would push them to make more DLC at some point anyway. If they didn't, 4J would probably still do it, of their own accord.
I REALLY do want to see some nice texture packs though. I LOVE some of the ones I've seen online in the PC version.

Retired StaffHell yeah! Jhonen Vasquez is my hero, I even have some ridiculously overpriced Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic books.

Retired StaffOh, please new guy, don't read the discussion or anything before you post. That would be a complete waste of time.
