Okay so, about a week back i posted a topic about how my slime farm was not working. Most of the comments where something like "light up your caves." so i dug around and found a cave, lit it up, then tried to get slimes to spawn again. no luck. so this time i dug 150 blocks out on each side of the farm and i found loads more caves, big ones to. so i light them up and then i was convinced that it would work. but still no luck. someone PLEASE help me, i have lots of things i want to do with sticky pistons but i can't get ans slimes to spawn.
Details on the spawner: It is a single slime chunk (16x16) 3 high and 5 levels above bedrock. it is light up from the top with torches (see picture). i am waiting 26 blocks above the spawner for 4 or 5 minutes at a time.
If you want to come into my world to help me get it set up, tell me in the comments and i will add you, as long as you don't take my stuff.
And since i know i'm going to get this question, YES i am positive it's in a slime chunk
Your slime spawn room is too dark. Light it up with torches or glowstone so that each torch/glowstone is approximately 4 blocks apart diagonally.
Slime will not spawn if you are within 24 blocks, and will despawn after 38 blocks on the Xbox 360 so I recommend waiting 28-30 layers above your slime farm.
Good luck.

Don't wait above it. You have to be at least 24 blocks away for them to spawn. Just dig a tunnel off of your slime farm that is 25-26 blocks away, and wait for 5-10 minutes.

1. More light, put torches 4-5 blocks apart
2. Go to the first level of bedrock
3. Make a room 27-35 blocks above your slime farm
4. Make the farm at least 4 blocks high
5. If it is 16x16 (not sure what you were saying) expand it to 20x50.
I dont know it this works for sure but maybe try adding a water area to your mine and keep a large area around the water the same level, In my bf's mine there are always slimes running around. His is a fairly big area with lava pools and the water pool, and its only 3 blocks high. The slimes were unwanted till the resent update lol.

If you want slimes to spawn, I'm pretty sure it needs to have a slime chunk just like plain minecraft does. So just find an area where there are already slimes and then build the farm there.
Just to correct a few misinformed people: it doesn't matter which axis, as long as you are 24 blocks away above, below, in front of, behind, to the left or to the right. It just has to be 24 blocks away.
Sure, but so can all the other hostile mobs. The purpose of the light is to keep anything other than slimes from spawning. The less other mobs spawn, the more slimes can spawn.
Yes, slime can spawn on torches. Light up the area and surrounding cave systems to prevent other mobs from spawning in. Probably check above the ceiling if there is a cave system above. I had the same problem with my slime farm till I found out they were spawning above in a cave system I lit up before.
Can anyone help me? I dug out my room and everything looks great but there is not slimes my room is 33x33x10 post your Gamertag please to join my world

i wouldn't worry about being 5 blocks above bedrock. I always have my farms right at bedrock and use the app to get to the right coordinates for chunks. I'll dig an extra 3 block perimeter around the chunks to glass off the area and have a walking block width around it. I use iron doors with a lever to get in, and like everyone else mentioned, i torch the living hell out of the area.

Are there dark caves full of mobs nearby? The more mobs around, the less will spawn.
