A majority of my posts are about lava, but only because it gives me so much trouble. I can't do anything underground without being immediately on lava. I try to make a slime farm, lava. I try to make a strip mine, lava. I try to make an underground base, lava. lava lava lava! Is it just me, or does too much lava spawn in the world? I usually use Gargamel or Fel Chakra as seeds
same here that why i always am a block away from where im mining i only do this if im in diamon level where usually lava spawns the most u should do the same an for any body that has the same problem

I usually keep cobble or gravel beside my pick in my hot bar as well...
Mine mine mine mine  Lava!
Backup a step, toss a gravel block into the lava-filled hole, then mine around and above the lava. If I need it gone, i fill it in. If not, I just get a few blocks away and continue mining.
Gravel is your best friend when encountering lava. Be sure to carry a couple of stacks and simply fill in any lava pools when you come across them.
Gravel is just a strong acquaintance. Your best friend is really a bucket of water. When you encounter a cave full of lava, just aim the crosshairs on the center of the ceiling. Activate the water bucket on the ceiling, and the water will rush down turning every lava space into obsidian. As the lava solidifies, it lets the water above it extend out and reach more lava. Two bucket dumps can cover most cave lava pools. The best part is that you can constantly reuse the water!
Pertaining to the topic, as far as lava pools go I use them as a sign of a cave system coming up. I Usually find a cave thats in the 14 Y-coord or lower, then look for resources. When im out of things to find, I start building a cave out in any direction. Once I find lava, I dig slightly above it, and start looking for conjoining caves. This is my best and favorite technique for mining. You never know what you will find.
This thread bores me.
