Is there any relationship between diamonds and coal? I ask this because of a somewhat strange experience I've had today.
Three times within the same hour, I found a large coal vein. After removing nearly all of the coal, I found diamonds right next to the coal vein. I found sixteen diamonds in about forty-five minutes.
I think you are just lucky. I notice I find a lot of coal near gravel or dirt that is underground. Nothing wrong with being lucky though. Nice job on the 16 diamonds in 45 minutes!!! I would be very pleased with that if it happend to me.

Thanks! It actually just happened again. I found coal in the wall of my branch mine and right behind that five more diamonds.

In real life, if you squeeze a chunk of coal in the palm of your hand
a million years, it will turn into diamond. So there's a relationship
in real life. This also means that in caves if there is enough pressure on coal for
a million years or whatever, it will turn to diamond.

Fun fact.
Curse you, I was going to say something like that.
Anyway, no, there is not a relationship between coal and diamonds in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, that make them spawn by each other.

Actually, they are made of two different types of carbon. Coal is decayed organic matter and diamonds are the actual element.
I don't know much about it but if you look closely. Diamonds are very close to being a retexture of coal just a tiny bit bigger. Also i have heard (i think this is a true fact lol) that diamond is suppresed or crushed coal.
So they're may be a relationship.

Is there a relationship or am I just lucky?

I don't have any coordinates though because I was branch mining and I don't remember which branches I found it all in.
